There are a few "JP onry" PS3 games that have received unofficial English language mods by fans. These are usually hacks on the game data files, translating the subtitle dialog strings (as well as some metadata structures related to them, such as sizes and pointers).
These games are generally only available on the Japanese PSN store but disc versions are usually available and are not region locked so they can be imported from Japan and played on non-Japanese system.
Anyway, some of these games have PSN multiplayer functionality. Do you think that using those language mods online carries a substantial risk of a ban (assuming they are only translations and don't change the gameplay)? Also is it even possible to play Japanese games on other region accounts to begin with?
