PS2 How to Boot USB with matrix chip(Solved)

Hi everyone, so i'm in a pickle here.
a year ago i gave my ps2 to some guy and asked him to mod it, he did so, but in the process he killed the disc drive(he says it was necessary for the mod chip to be installed) and so i can't use the disc drive and play my games burned onto a dvd or something of the sort, also no freemcboot from a cd is gonna happen either.

i remember he made it work via a usb and my memory card, now the issue is that i lost the original usb he gave me, and all i have now is the memory card, when it's set on mass(from the boot menu in the chip's setting) it first says "loading into boot menu 1.00" which is followed by "failed to load config file" written in red and accompanied by 4 red circles which have a "!" in them.
now i tried to use ulauncherelf and opl, and i have failed in making it work, it's also worth mentioning that i can recall using opl with my ps2, as not only are there save files from some games that i did play back then, but also a file name "opl", so it used to work, but i don't have the right usb and don't know what files i need to make it work.
i'll appreciate any and all help that i can get, thank you in advance.

What steps are you doing to load it?
I downloaded opl 1.10, I also downloaded ulaunchelf and put them both in the USB root, later I saw someone here say that there should be a folder called BOOT and those files should be there(or something like that), my USB is also a SD card reader(if that is the problem).

first.

Have you already made sure that you can boot the USB in the modchip configuration?
Yes, I've checked the modchip menu that you can access by holding both triangle and circle upon turning on the PS2, and it's set to boot from "mass", so that's taken care of.
What next?

I will tell you how it would be done in dev1 (memory card) since my chip is not updated.

1.-Create a folder with the name "BOOT" and inside it place the application you want to start, renaming it to "BOOT.ELF".

2.-Place the folder in the root of the USB and test.

hi, so i tried what you said and i still got the same problem, do you think the problem might be from the fact that i'm using a sd card reader? it is a usb sd card reader, but could it be the problem?

also i tried to use ulaunchelf and opl(renaming each to BOOT.elf and testing each, it did not work)

Maybe, try a different device.

It should be noted that you must have only one application called "BOOT.ELF" inside the "BOOT" folder, the one you want to start when you turn on the PS2.

Also make sure that the mod chip is saving the changes.

Edit:
I did a little research friend, it seems that the procedure for USB is different.
You must create a folder called "system" in the root of the USB and place the applications inside.
You must also create a txt file called "config.txt" and inside it must have two lines for each application, for example:

Code:
APP1_ELF=   OPNPS2LD.ELF
APP1_DESC=  Open PS2 Loader v0.93

Where "APP1_ELF" is the name of the application and "APP1_DESC" is the title that will appear on the screen.
"bmp" images corresponding to the applications with the following nomenclature are also added:

Code:
app1_idle.bmp
app1_selected.bmp

Where "app1_idle.bmp" is in charge of showing the image of application number 1 in this case open ps2 loader, and "app1_selected.bmp" is in charge of showing the highlight every time you position yourself on an image.

That said, I leave you the "system" folder already prepared, just copy it to the root of your USB.

You only have to replace the OPL version that you want to use as well as the UulaunchELF version

Thank you so much for your time during these few days and helping me however you could, it means a lot to me and i'm forever grateful.
I wish you luck in your future endeavors my friend.
Have a good one.

p.s: do i need to mark this thread as solved? is it even possible here?

I appreciate your words and I'm glad I helped you.

As a suggestion, you should add words like "boot USB with matrix chip" or something similar to the thread title to make it easier to find for other people with the same problem.

Greetings.
