PS3HEN How to encrypt CONFIG files for ps2classicgui?

Hi,
I am running PS3HEN and use ps2classicsgui to play ps2 games ( sometimes use placeholder with ISO.BIN.ENC).
I have downloaded a config file from http://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html

How do I encrypt this file ?

OR

Do I have to use one of the encrypted config files provided below
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/ps2-encrypted-config-files.841/
( but my game is not here (burnout 3: takedown ) )

The easy way: Use the CONFIG files already provided in http://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html

They are encrypted if you download them from the ENC (PS2 Classics).

To encrypt the files you don't need the GUI, but it's also possible to encrypt them through the GUI with additional steps.

Execute this command from CMD.EXE:

ps2classic.exe e cex ps2.key SCES_123.45.CONFIG CONFIG CONFIG 2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333
Replace SCES_123.45.CONFIG with the actual file name of the CONFIG file that you want to encrypt.

e = encrypt
cex = target mode (cex or dex)
ps2.key = binary file containing the key (the following 16 bytes: E4 E5 4F D6 7C 16 C3 16 F4 78 29 A3 04 84 D8 43)
SCES_123.45.CONFIG = decrypted CONFIG file
CONFIG = Output file name
CONFIG = Name of output file
2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333 = Content ID (use that constant for convenience)

this is actually something that I missed adding to Apollo, and it should be plain simple to add (all the encryption code is already there)

I'll keep it in mind for a future update

How can you tell if the file is encripted? I am trying to use a PS2 classic PKG instead of the vanilla ISO image as the PKG includes a CONFIG file along with the ISO.BIN.ENC.

However, that ISO.BIN.ENC doesn't work for me, I had to decrypt it using PS2 Classic GUI + RAP, then encrypt again using the standard rap in order for PS2 Classic Launcher to launch it.

I'm a little lost are you trying to use encrypted CONFIG files with a PS2 Classic PKG for a standalone install to launch right from the XMB? Or you can install this PKG I used it myself when I was using HEN for a bit over CFW but works for both users. Just make sure the ISO.BIN.ENC is named the same. Otherwise if trying to make a standalone PKG extract the PKG with PS3tools then get the file you want and rename it to simply

CONFIG

Then drop it in here while creating the PKG please note it is case sensitive.

Code:
CONFIG
             ISO.BIN.EDAT
             ISO.BIN.ENC

I am trying to figure out how to make the PS2 Classic Placeholder to use the original CONFIG file included in a PS2 classic PKG. I don't know if such file is encrypted. I assume it is as the PKG had a rap file, which I used to decrypt the original ISO.BIN.ENC also included. The game wouln't load if I try to run as is, neither will load if I place the original CONFIG along with the ISO.BIN.ENC decrypted with its RAP and encrypted with PS2 Classic GUI.

I am not sure if I do need the CONFIG file, but the game (Manhunt US, NPUD20827) have a visual glitch in the lights. These go beyond walls and are a bright yellow big circle. I hope the CONFIG file does fix it.

It is important to mention that the original ISO.BIN.ENC file was encrypted with a .RAP file and wouldn't launch using HEN+PS2 Classic Placeholder. In order to make it run, I had to (i) decrypt it using the original RAP; (ii) encrypt it again using the standard 2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333.rap in PS2 Classic GUI.

The thing is, I want to have my PS2 games collection as ISO files, not PKGs, hence I recoded the original ISO.BIN.ENC included in the official PKG to be a "standard" ISO.BIN.ENC, and now I am trying to fix that lights problems as the game is supposed to run flawless (hence I am trying to make it run with the CONFIG included).

ISO.BIN.ENC from PSN PKG (with or without CONFIG) or CONFIG from official PKG will not work on PS2 Classics Launcher due it uses a standard RAP (hardcoded in Cobra/HEN/Mamba payload).

Official PS2 Classics should be launched from standalone PKG files with their own content id + RAP.

If you want to use these PS2 Classics with PS2 Classics Launcher (e.g to list them on webMAN MOD), you must decrypt the ISO.BIN.ENC then resign it again using Apollo Save Tool, multiMAN or PS2 Classics GUI on the PC.

I did decrypt it (the ISO) using PS2 Classic GUI and the game runs. However, it has a lights glitch (as show here) which I assume is fixed with the CONFIG file. I am currently trying to decode the CONFIG file, but I am not sure how to do it.

I also downloaded Manhunt CONFIG file from http://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html, placed it with the ISO.BIN.ENC, but the game doesn't start. Says the data is corrupted.

Try downloading the decrypted CONFIG from the database site and encrypt it yourself using PS2 Classics GUI (say No when it asks to add LIMG segment).

Or encrypt it manually using the command line as explained in the post #2

THIS WORKED!!! And the config file was indeed needed as the lights glitch is now FIXED!!! Thank you so much!!!

Now I wonder, why PS2 Classics Placeholder isn't taking the CONFIG included in HDD0\game\PS2CONFIG??? Its because the game ID is NPUD (no SLU), or because these files aren't encrypted??

If I recall correctly, the database doesn't include NPUD configs. So it's required to provide it manually.

Should we always say No to add LIMG segment when using CONFIGs with PS2 Classics GUI? I have always added the LIMG segment ignorantly, what is the drawback of adding it?
