PS2 How to encrypt my PS2 HDD

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is having/had a great Easter.

I had a question I was hoping in asking all of you experts (my apologies if I am posting in an incorrect forum.

I have a business that repairs and refurbishes video game consoles. I have a real passion with PS2 and I would love to offer a refurbished ps2 console with hdd pre installed games. (Before you ask, yes in my country this is legal)

To prepare a SSD 1 TB (example) with fancy cover arts full with games will take me a few days of work to make from scratch (obviously).

The big question is: How do I protect this hard drive from being cloned and resold by a competitor as "their work"?
 
Thank God You cannot. Technically impossible if You want autoboot. It is possible only if You implement that on target loader side, like custom OPL, but then You would deal with lowering game compatibility and serious load on IOP for decryption task, and of course such OPL must be launch via MC, not HDD.

Besides that, You are pirate and psx-place is not pirates den. We don't care if this is legal for You. It is just non ethical and that's mostly matter.

To respond to your second remark: I don't see that I was rude and this whole site is basically telling people step by step how to hack consoles and play games and or emulation (for the most part you contribute information in doing so). I fail to see the problem in asking a simple question without throwing around labels. I am just offering to do what you suggest to others who might not have the "know how" or time to accomplish what they want.

In any case, I thank you for your time once again.

Hacking consoles which i.e allows to play game backups and even pirated games, doesn't means it is piracy itself. You mixing different things together.

If "they" don't know that and don't have time for learn, they need stays behind knowledge wall. Stick to official solutions. I'm very against replacing Sony policeman by custom self proclaimed policeman like You pretended to be by wish of disk encrypting, especially with stuff which never belongs to You.

I didn't said You are rude, nor I'm offended. I took information's, processed, output. No emotions involved.
 
It does not matter at all, if it is legal where you reside at.

It is NOT legal where this website/platform is at and hence you will not get any help regarding it here.
