H I bought this seagate 2 tb hdd ST2000DMZ08 for my ps2 and wanted to know how to format it so it can work with ps2..
Has anyone done it
i tried this guide
on youtube but than when i press format drive on winhiip it says my drive does not have enough space.. Does anyone know what that means?I followed directions to have it at mbr and unallocated like how the guide says..
I would like to learn more..Do i have to format it or can I just stick it in the ps2 and it will work?

Disable your mod chip, setting up everything like in the video I posted a link to basically makes a mod chip pointless

ok he talks about installing free mc boot and opl loader..How is this relating to my topic of getting my hdd to work on my ps2?
my ps2 already has ol loader and all those apps..

He also goes on to show you how to set up your drive so it can be recognized by your system. If it doesn't have the appropriate files on it it won't do anything until it does

Run wLaunchELF (might be listed as "LaunchELF" in the FMCB menu);
Go to FileBrowser->MISC->HddManager, press R1, choose Format then select OK;
Press R1 again, choose Create, enter +OPL and move the cursor to 4096 MB.

Optionally you can install the latest version of FHDB, or an older version if your modchip is troublesome [see the "Older versions (especially for modchips)" tab].

Is it true the Winhiip can't format 2 tb drives?

I don't know. WinHIIP should be avoided anyway. No reason to use such an old software other than to look for troublesome situations:positive:.

i was reading the instructions and it said I have to have the hdd connected to the pc :(..Is their a way to install games with the HDD already installed in the ps2?

You can use those programs also through ETH but only if you have an original SONY network adaptor (if you got a clone, like a GameStar one, the ETH port is fake).

In any case I suggest you to install the games directly connecting the HDD to the PC, because the games installation is +10 times faster.
