I am getting an error message when trying to load PS1 ISOs (pic included)

Hi, I am on 4.88.2 Evilnat CFW on my launch fully BC 60GB (upgraded to 1tb internal).

I have an external 5tb USB portable Western Digital drive plugged into the 2nd from the last USB port and the drive is formatted to exFAT with all my PS3 isos on it, which load up in WebManMod just fine.

However, when I try to load a PS1 game, I get the following error:

LD93aWg.png

The games are verified good rips, and are in BIN/CUE format which I've read is what format they are supposed to be in, so I have no idea what's going on.

Does the error message I posted help with any clues as to why I can't get PS1 games to work?

Thank you so kindly in advance!

The exFAT drivers leave a lot to be desired especially with drives over 2tb. I would try to load the same image via a different drive even if a USB drive. And try different file systems as more times then not it is something along these lines.

Never seen a PS1 rip with "(USA)" at the end of the iso.
C'mon, there's no need for that. FYI, that's the naming scheme that NoIntro uses to differentiate between different dumps. Someone who wanted to keep a large ROM collection organized, or wanted to easily verify their dumps with NoIntro, could use the naming scheme. There are also backup managers like "Wii Backup Manager" that offer to rename dumps with different naming schemes.

Let's give OP the benefit of the doubt.

I was wondering where it came from, I just assumed uploaders put that in manually.

But try to ask for help in the Nintendo homebrew discord with an ISO like that and they will automatically assume it's privacy.

Maybe the disc is too fragmented, or have cross linked files or you could have changed the USB port after scan.

You could try the following:
1- Scan again the games using prepISO to be sure that you're using a fresh .ntfs[PSXISO]
2- If the problem persists, try copying the BIN/CUE to /dev_hdd0/PSXISO
3- Or perform a chkdsk x: /f and a defrag optimization on that exFAT disk.

So I tried all of the above and unfortunately it still isn't working.

I suppose I could try a different hard drive on a different USB port but that seems like a shame because everything is finally working with this exFAT drive (at least PS3 games are, which took me forever to get working right. I must have split and unsplit my PS3 isos a hundred times and reformatted this drive 100 times already).

The game works fine from the internal hard drive. Unfortunately even though I have a 1tb hard drive, it's not enough to store all my PS1 games.

Is there a way that I can have PS3 games on one exFAT drive, and PS1 games on a fat32 drive, while having them both plugged into the console at a single time?

Yes, unless you don't have anything else plugged into the slots, you can use a USB hub.

Wait so if I get a USB hub, and plug it into the 3rd USB port, I can have 3 different hard drives plugged in? One for PS1 games, one for PS2 games, and one for PS3 games?

And it would solve the issue I am currently having with PS1 games not mounting?

You can have separate partitions on the same external hard drive. I have both a FAT32 and an NTFS partition, which covers all of my needs. For example, my PS3 ISO backups above 4GB go to PS3ISO in the NTFS partition.

As for PS2 games - they cannot be played from an external drive; trying to mount from USB will just copy the ISO to dev_hdd0/PS2ISO before it will allow you to mount it. PS1 backups I either keep on the internal HDD or on the FAT32 partition of my USB external drive.

Ok so it's 100% confirmed PS1 games cannot be loaded from an exFAT drive ?

Also is there any way to install PSN PKGs to the exFAT drive? My internal drive is getting low and it's the 1TB max so it's not even like I can upgrade it.

Not 100% confirmed, but the benefit of loading PS1 games from FAT-32 is that you can apply some patches and load multi-disc games with Irisman. Speaking of Irisman, have you tried loading your PS1 game from exFat with another backup manager? Of course, Multiman won't work, but MGZ and Iris should support exfat.

IRISMAN supports exFAT only in the File Manager. NTFS is fully supported.

I would have used fat32 but doing that has a lot of issues with 5tb drives that I could not fix. The PS3 would pretty much never load my drive with that.

NTFS had similar problems, where my PS3 games would flat-out not mount.

Now with exFAT, my PS3 games work just fine, but PS1 games refuse to mount :(

So just to verify, there is no way to play PS1 games from an external exFAT drive, even though PS3 games work just fine?

This coupled with PS2 ISOs not working from an external drive pretty much makes me feel like I totally wasted my time and money getting a fully BC PS3.

I am also getting something similar with PS2 ISOs. If I click a PS2 iso, it says it's transferring to \PS2ISO

But I sit there forever and it never shows up in the XMB.
