I am running OFW 4.80, should I upgrade to 4.82 before moving to CFW?

Hi guys, this is my first post.

I have one of the original PS3 consoles with the EE chip for hardware PS2 backwards compatibility. I haven't used it in some time and now I want to install CFW on it; but I'm a little overwhelmed and not sure where to start.

It currently has OFW 4.80. Should I install a CFW that was designed to replace OFW 4.80? Or should I update to OFW 4.82, or 4.84 and get one of the latest CFW?

Is a Rebug with Cobra the best way to go?

Thanks. I installed CFW on a different console back in the v3.55 days but I've pretty much forgotten everything since then. It's pretty nerve racking. Esp. with a rare EE console... but they're old and not as valuable these days.

I saw that Cobra apparently supports PSP ISOs. Does that mean you can play PSP titles on PS3? I bought one of those PSTVs to play PSP games on the big screen... Waste of money that was. (As the community now knows) They're bloody useless.

they're not,it's a neat little system when jailbroken.i'm always hunting for it again as my original one was broken (long story) bud sadly in my area prices of them skyrocketed and are pretty rare.psp games can be played on the ps3 but compatibility is atrocious,and all those initial versions of the ps3 need to be delided at least,and you can count on changing caps soon,especially if you use it frequently.

i would jb that pstv and setup psp games but if you need good compatibility i'd get 2000/3000 psp and set of component cables.psp go can be even set up to work with ds3 but it's much more expensive (at least in my area),needs it's own set of cables...

Sounds like PPSSPP is probably the better bet over PS3. I'm not sure if I even still have the PSTV... If I do I'll look into soft modding it. Cheers
