PS4 I bought a PS4 with mod chip

Hi,

I just bought a PS4 that, according to the previous owner, had a mod chip installad. However, he didn't knew which mod chip that was installed or how to use it since he hadn't used the system himself.

So my question is, are there mod chips for PS4 and if so, how can I check if my PS4 actually has one installed?

And what can I do with it?

I don't know of any conventional mod chips for the ps4. None exist. There is however a chip that pushes a payload to the ps4 and doesn't need a pc or phone to do so. It may be the esp8226. I think that is the number for that chip.... some may know more. I know some are working on an e3 type chip for the ps4 for messing with nor but I don't think it's at the mass install phase yet as nothing can really be done with it.

I think there was a modchip to allow infinite game sharing, but it's completely useless now that there's a software way of doing it for both ps4 and ps5. people have gotten banned for doing it too from what I understand.

yes, it allows you to push a payload to the ps4 without a pc or a phone. a wifi stick like the sandisk connect can do the same. I think the esp only holds about 3MBs or so, so you can't hold much, but it's not really needed. my sandisk connect is 8GBs, so more than enough for everything.

Thanks for replys! But what is a "payload" and what does it mean to "push payload to ps4"?

Sorry for noob questions, but this is my first ps4 and I don't know anything about hacking a PS4. I once had a PS2 with modchip and that was great since you could play backups with it. I had hoped this would be something similar, but if I understand you correctly, even if I have a chip, it can't do anything useful?

Can it hurt the console or get me banned even if I dont use it? Or any other disadvantage?

there's also a modchip to fix the hdmi issues that the ps4 is known for. there's no telling what's inside your system really, so being banned is a possibility.

Not sure... but here is one thing to consider

If the factory screws are still in place and you have that Torqz T9 screw which is covered by plastic clip and/or sticker (aka SONY's warranty seal) then it is also possible that they sold you a PS4 and claimed it to be modchipped when it may not even be chipped if those security mechanisms are in place (It cant be internally chipped if this were the case, at least).

And if that blue security screw is still hidden by sticker and square plastic button, then it has likely never been removed before
