I brought backward compatibile PS3 Funny (not for me..) thing is i exactly don't know which model i brought. Here is what i get:

At the auction I issue a PS3 FAT CLASSIC.

The console has a disk with a capacity of 20GB,
and uploaded reworked version 3.55 system,
allows you to run backup games from internal or external hard disk connected the USB cable.

The console is fully operational in perfect condition.

It also reads well all discs and movies and games on BR.

It has backwards compatibility,
which is normally on it we will play in the original games that were released on the PS2.

I sell along with the power cord, cable TV and a wireless pad.

On the disk is a game console visible in the enclosed photos.

RECOMMENDED AND WELCOME TO BIDDING.

I found this auction ~40 minutes before end, so owner don't answer me what model it is. Hope is not Cech-B because only that model had 20GB from factory. But maybe someone changed hdd. We will see. Price including shiping: 88 USD or 79 EUR I think even if this is frankenstain (cech - b) it was worth. Why this threat? Because i can :p

Haha i was hunting for ANY cheap ps3 as i don't have one already. Nice surprise for me that cheapest console was BC compatibile. Oh i forget ,added pad is not from Sony, but i got one so is ok.

Even if is a CECHB is a good buy
Is the same motherboard COK-001 than CECHA... the only stuff missing in CECHB are the:
-CMC-001 (multicard reader board)
-CWI-001 (wifi/BT board)

I never heard people trying it but maybe you can simply replace them... because CECHA and CECHB shares the same motherboard and the "weird" subboards of CECHB can be phisically replaced by the ones from a CECHA
Software wise i have no idea... i know some parts of EID contains hardware identifyers... maybe some of them are related with these boards

Most likely a B but who cares? PS3 wifi is shite anyhow and do you really need SD/CF/MSDuo ports anyhow? When I had mine none of that ever went to any use.

I thought the B models didn't have chrome trim. They were blacked out.

Ok, Cech C also have that chrome trim? In my region is most popular BC, only one that was sell here. A/B/E wasn't distributed here, which don't mean that someone can't buy it in other place.

CECHC = CECHE [Semi BC] yes it has chrome btw

Ha! Because of racer0018's work I'll be without a ps3 too!! So i'm actually quitting my moderation and developing completely. lol

Grats on the buy!! Hope that sucker does you well! I do like the gelid gc-extreme paste better than mx-4 or as5, its 3x the price but its worth it.... it cooled my gpu from 110c at idle (shutting down my computer) to 75c MAX under 100% load for 24 hours....

There is that thing soldered near the cable slot that is not in B01. I didn't mark that on the pic because to me it looks visible..

Both A/B have COK-001.....

And CECHC/E have COK-002 with wifi support

Ok, i wrote this to summarize the "problem" of identification ---> Talk:COK-00x - PS3 Developer wiki
I thought all COK-001 motherboards was exactly the same... but now i see are not... some COK-001 has missing onboard components

As we are discussing in IRC... i still think is technically posible to convert a CECHB to CECHA (by adding the missing components in COK-001.... adding the CWI-001 and CMC-001 daughterboards from a CECHA... and looking at EID to "enable" the presence of the added controllers)... but i guess this belongs to another thread for frankenstein experiments

Ok i have Cech -c. It wasn't in so good condition like was writen in auction. But i changed thermal paste, and it look like this done job. Is not the coolest one model.. But in xmb temp are high, but in game on syscon cooling i get max 72. All this on syscon and silent. Too silent, but i have webman problem, but this is for other threat.

Anyway, everything look good, and i'm proud owner of CECH-C model.

EDIT: WebMAN problems resolved, temperatures under 64c, all look fine for now.
