PS3 I have a problem with my PS3

I have a problem I have CFW on my PS3 and when I turned on my PS3 the other day it said it had a Sony software update but it keeps failing the update and every time I turn my PS3 it keeps wanting to do the software update and it will do anything else but do the software update and fail over and over again and I don't know how to get around this

On screenshot, it says that You started fw update and turned it off. Now you have boot loop (consider it as been lucky because that often ends in perm brick).

Try start PS3 in recovery mode and feed PS3 with CFW matched to your TargetID, with version equal or newer to one you have. If that will fail, try newest OFW. If that will fail too, then make sector by sector disk image (for future data recovery from it), format drive and try again install CFW or OFW.

Eventually, if You have ERK, you can try to decrypt disk and restore cache partition image by PS3HDH tasker script.

I am saying it will not doing anything but check for Sony Update and it will not boot into safe mode and I was told I had pull the hard drive and connect it to my laptop and reformat it because it will not do anything else because it is stuck in a update loop and before I can hook it to my laptop I had to order a cable to hook to my laptop

I couldn't do anything until I took the hard drive out of the PS3 and formatted it and put it back into the PS3 because it was stuck in a update loop

I lost all my data yes because it wouldn't do anything at all but check for PS3 official software update and would not let you get in Safe Mode or anything else just would do the beeps when holding down the button on PS3 and it would just load back into checking for Software update and that is all.

Now after I formatted it I was able to get past the software update loop and able to jailbreak again

Thank you for clarification. That's the answer I expected before.

If you would make disk image before formatting, then you wouldn't lost anything. Data can be read on PC and copied to fresh disk. Just FYI: https://www.psx-place.com/resources/ps3-hdd-decryption-helper.1293/
