I'm going a little crazy due to how unstable my PS3 softmodding experience has been.
On my factory 500gb drive, things mostly seemed to work. I installed HEN for the first time. Double-installed, actually, via Mr. Mario's YouTube recommendation-- once via XMB and once via Safe Mode. I had no real (or at least "discovered") issues to speak of except for the learning curve.
I then ordered a Toshiba 1tb new/unused internal HDD from Amazon and installed it. Since then, I've had a number of problems. Many of these could potentially have been problems on my original HDD/HEN installation; but if so, they were undiscovered at the time.
Thanks for any support.

- DualShock 3 works correctly in every way on both gamepads, except: If I use the PS button on the gamepads to turn on the PS3, it will not sync wirelessly and automatically. I then have to use one of the many other methods for resetting or syncing the gamepad before it will begin to work. If I recall correctly, this was not true before my new HDD/HEN. But if it was, it was *definitely* not true before my first HEN install.
- When using Safe Mode functions, file system checker always reported the file system as corrupted and attempts to repair it. This is true of my new HDD/HEN; but I will never know if it would have been true of my old HDD/HEN.
- Executing several Safe Mode functions (including firmware update) would often turn my screen black. It was not an HDMI issue. The button was still green, but the PS3 would not beep when I pressed it normally. However, if I held it down for a long time, it would finally beep and turn off my PS3. I could then use the button to turn my PS3 back on normally. I am not sure what's going on here, and whether or not I should try reinstalling firmware. Still, I reinstalled the firmware again if I got a black screen (both for OFW and then for HFW), and it would not give me a black screen every time.
After further attempts, I am guessing that it just may not always successfully show the "we see an HDMI, do you want to use it?" screen at the end of the OFW/HFW install. I am definitely not certain that that's what it is though. If this *is* what it is, then should I still worry about system instability?
- Using the functions in Safe Mode (firmware reinstalls, file system checker, formatting, etc.) does not fix any of my problems.
Thanks for any support.
