So i recently got a PS4 Phat for cheap in fully working order, but for some reason the past owner has completely removed the sticker at the bottom of the system that tells you the model number and datecode. Is there any other way of identifying this?

Thanks.

Yes. Easy to identify by looking at the motherboard. Refer PS4 devwiki to see differences between 1000, 1100 and 1200 series. Another easy way to check is power and eject buttons. I think early 1000 series has touch sensors while later 1200 series has click buttons. Also Early 1000 series has 4 screws on back panel. 1200 series has only two screws in middle, the rest of chassis is held together by internal clips.

Thanks, i worked out that it is a 12xxA series phat system.

I actually got this system for fairly cheap with controller and cables because the disc drive wasn't taking discs, turned out the previous owner who did work on refurbishing it had put the disc sensor ribbon cable in the wrong way as well as trapping the laser cable under the power supply so that the laser couldn't move past a certain point. Simply put the cables the right way around and works perfectly.
