I'm a noob

I'm on 5.05

I'm trying to update to 6.72

My goal was to put 6.72 firmware on my USB stick to update on my PS4

I accidentally had my internet connected and I believe it was started to download a later version

I got worried and disconnected my internet

I now try to update via no internet connected and I get a corrupted message trying to update

I think the later version is stuck in limbo and it's not allowing me to update to 6.72

If anyone could explain the most simple step by step instructions or links would help me so much

Thank you anyone that could help

if you want most stable jailbreak, do not update yet.
maybe @pinky can help you.

you could try deleting the update or partial update from the notifications' section of the home menu. 4.55+ allows you to do this on official firmware. if it won't let you, try deleting it from the update folder (need ftp for this). I'm not entirely sure if the latter will work. in the past, some people have had to resort to formatting the internal hdd (initializing it) in order to get rid of the update. it's also possible that you have updates disabled via a payload. this could be the reason some people formatted, unknowingly, because formatting will wipe the update folder completely. this payload will prevent updates from being installed, so you can do the update unblocker to fix it or delete those three things in the update folder.

alright, I just checked for you. here's my update folder. I think what you're wanting to do is to delete those top four folders (the ones that say UPDATE in them). if there's an actual update, it will be a pup file, not a folder one, update blocker blocks updates from downloading by creating these folders. and, yes, @Coro is correct in saying that you shouldn't update. none of the firmware exploits are 100% stable, but 5.05 is the most stable of all of them at about 85-90%:

just found out that the enable update payload will delete a real update as well, so that would be the easiest way probably.

I would suggest you not to update because there is not any benefit of updating from 5.05 infact you will decrease ur stability even at 6.72.
5.05 is the golden firmware to have if u want a jailbreakable ps4 at this moment.

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR ANY AND ALL FEEDBACK BY HELPING A NOOB AS MYSLEF !!!

I really appreciate it

and I will take you guys words for it and not update from 5.05

Just pulled my PS4 out and hasn't been in use for a while and forget everything about it , saw a new jailbrrak online regarding 6.72 and decided it might be best to update , I screwed something up as I mentioned got scared it was going to update

You guys saved me , Thank you

@pinky

Thank you most of all for the research and verification to save me

To verify with you I unblocked the update before trying to update , I then realized that I was connected to the internet and it stated to update something new and it wasn't 6.72 ... it scared me and I pulled the plug ... then did the steps over and received this strange error

I just followed what you advised pinky by Enabling blocked updates

I do want to make sure that the folders were deleted ... mind if I ask

Could you provide me with the steps I need to do to FTP into my PS4 to my PC via PC ... I have never ftp into my PS4 before

also what folder would I need to be in to see if the files got deleted

Thank you again

the update folder is on the root of all the different partitions. it might even be its own partition, since the ps4 internal hdd has 14 or 15 partitions iirc. the easiest way to ftp is to use goldhen. it has ftp built into it. use 1.1, because 1.0 has some issue where sometimes not all partitions are listed. I, along with many others, have encountered this bug. I've never seen it happen with 1.1 though.

@pinky

Thank you I will enable goldenhen 1.1 and proceed with the ftp and give it a go

Appreciate the help

And if I'm having trouble I will be back to ask for help
:)

btw, you can also use this: https://github.com/PSTools/PS4-Xplorer/releases

if you don't want to ftp. to make changes to some sections, you have to enable the unsafe privileges (forgot the button combo, but it will say). you should be able to look everywhere, just that change needs to be taken. there's also a special ftp that enables this too. goldhen will not allow you to make unsafe changes (i.e. say the boot sound and music for example), but both these things can, not to confuse you, but those two options are available to you. the special ftp is called orbis ftp. it will take you back to the home menu once you launch it like you would any app, then you'll have those privileges. I had to do that to change boot sounds and whatnot.
