You can install pkg's even without a DVD.They won't run though if they are unsighned code such as multiman or any other ps3 games that are homebrew. They install but wont run on ofw.If it's for games that go past the 4gb limit then just use pkg linker with a lan cable.
Thank you for clearing things out, I highly appreciate ityep

I would Use Blu-ray Discs cause a dvd can only hold like 7.5Gb I believe.Actually I am thinking on burning ps2 pkgs on dvd so 4gb wont be a problem, I guess lol.

You might need DL layer DVDs for some ps2 games iirc. Most will be fine. Anyway the 4GB barrier wont be an issue on disk media as the filesystem is not fat32.Actually I am thinking on burning ps2 pkgs on dvd so 4gb wont be a problem, I guess lol.
I have ultra slim ps3, I used to hot swap ps1 games in it, but it wont play ps2 dvd even the legit ones.I don't even own a bluray burner.op, if you have a bc system, you may be able to use swap magic 3.8, unless sony has patched that. I still own my swap magic from the 3.55 days. I used it on my first ps3. this is for burns only btw and not ps2 classics.
Super (ultra?) slim models can't play PS2 games unless they're downloaded or converted to PSN PKG type using HAN but no PS2 ISO/Disc support afaikI have ultra slim ps3, I used to hot swap ps1 games in it, but it wont play ps2 dvd even the legit ones.
I have 1tb internal with about 20gb free with ~50 empty dvd that I bought dirt cheap.
