Hello, I had installed HAN more than a year ago on a 4.82 OFW on a PS3 SuperSlim. I have been reading through this forum that there is a new exploit: HEN; and a new firmware: HFW.
I perfectly rembember when you recommended not to update the firmware of the PS3. Now it looks like I will have to update it or make some sort of workaround to get my PS3 connect to internet; because somehow the browser is not working properly as it did before, and in looking for the root of the problems, it seems that Sony managed to leave me offline if I don't update the PS3.
All this led me to some skepticism about the updates following 4.82. On 4.83, Sony "patched" HAN. Now, you have made it work again with this HFW. Three updates followed the version 4.84, and Sony did not patch the exploit anymore, but why?
PS3 Developer Wiki has some information about the last update: 4.87.
Again, the wiki says that there are changes made to the PS1, PS2 and PSP emulators. Why would Sony update those emulators of the PS3? As far as I know, they're not widely used (I didn't know they existed until I started using HAN).
So, all of this leaves me with some suspicions about the recent updates. I would like to use HEN and make my PS3 work with Internet, and not regret later for updating the firmware.
Are you REALLY sure that updating to 4.87 OFW from 4.82 is safe if I want to put HEN on it and whatever CFW-like exploit that may come later?
Thanks.

Why would Sony give performance improvements to the PS3 now? There are the PS4 and PS5 for which Sony has more to care about now. Sony hadn't released updates for the PS3 until the Ps3Xploit started to gain relevance. This system software update improves system performance.
