Rebug REX is definitely the most popular; it's not necessarily the best as it's a matter of preference but it by far has the most features available. I'd recommend Rebug or Ferrox Cobra just as much as the other, as I've used both for a good amount of time. What is the best firmware to be applied to my PS3? a lot of people are saying that Rebug rex is the best out there.
As long as it's verified with the latest version of PyPS3checker with no errors or warnings then it's a perfectly valid, usable flash dump.Did you make multiple NOR dumps before patching? I only made one dump and even though it passes the checks, I'm still kicking myself in the backside for not making more.
You might want to look at the following thread, if you're interested in helping the community with information about your flash dump:It passed at the time when I got a my PS3.That was last year though and I just always see people talking about making multiple dumps just in case. I wondered if I could go back to OFW 3.55 and make more dumps but I wasn't sure if I could or should. I ordered an E3 flasher and it will be here today. Not sure why I bought it but I figured it would be good to have just in case
@jsantos1980 Yes, your PS3 is compatible with CFW. First of all install 4.84 HFW because not everything has been updated for 4.85 yet, including some CFW.
Install HFW twice - once via System Update on the XMB and once from the recovery menu/safe mode. Once you've done that, follow this guide carefully for instructions on how to use the (in your case, NOR) flash dumper and flash writer. Read everything carefully, and don't hesitate to post back if you're unsure of anything. It's a straight forward process, but it's easy to make a mistake so read and re-read everything before going ahead.![]()
