Is my ps3 temp fine ?!

Hello, so I bought this ps3 slim cech-2000 model series that have like 387 days run time

and this is the temp while playing god of war 3

cell: 59
Rsx: 66

my fan speed is set to 40%

this temps look scary because I was going to do this overclock thing to boost my game's performance

What do you guys think! Is this temp normal or should I buy another one

the seller also said that he changed the thermal paste recently
 
So the RSX is kinda high especially for 40% fan speed. Mine at 33% is about 5-6 degrees cooler then yours. Now that being said one of my BC units is about that temp but also a much bigger surface area and makes more heat. I would just do a thermal paste change as that will usually get it to where you need it.

Yup I also have 3 other fat ps3 that run cooler then this one

And one CECH 2500 model that run way cooler and its not yet been resurfaced

I was just wondering is this a common thing from CECH2000 models ?! I heard a lot of people saying bad thing about this model

the seller already change the thermal paste on both rsx and cell but still look bad

No the first model slim had some issues. It can still have the NEC Tokin caps failure. The 2100 is the first model this was eliminated from.

They do suffer from NEC Tokin caps failure. But a delid may also be needed.

Damn that's high? My old slim ps3 had 75C rsx temp on idle and that's after replacing thermal paste.
 
I think the RSX on a 250x PS3 runs always hotter than the Cell (under optimal conditions).

For my 2504 the RSX is exactly 5°C hotter, even at the XMB, both chips delidded, liquid metal under the IHS, MX4 on top.

If I set the fan for the CPU to 62° via webman-mod, the RSX is about 67-68°C, playing TLOU the fanspeed is about 38%.

Yeah 75° is only 5° from a panic shutdown. I never let mine get to even 70° but none of mine have been close to that so I'll take it. Even my two launch day systems.

I have a CECH-2501 and i change it myself the paste, the temps were OK (60 60) i didn't gave much of a thought until last week i change it again since i had to open it to case swap it and add half of a 4g MX4 and drop temps from 60 60 to 52 56 in game, in game menus i get 51 51 and the lowest i got was from using movían 48 48 (It gets higher temps in XMB than game/movían menus)I never hit 60 again ever since

The first time i was short on MX4 and that's the reason of such a difference, When you change it go more than you usually would in any other hardware

2 grams of CPU and RSX is my way to go, put more focus on RSX though

All of this with FAN at 35 and HDD

When Evilnat puts out 4.89.2 i will SSD it and maybe get a few temps lower but i doubt it would

Even with my current set up of having stable TEMPS i wouldn't do it, the gain you get is lower than the risk, you get a few frames more than wouldnt be noticible, more keeping in mind that the resolution display is 720 (Yes a few games are 1080)

In another words, it ain't worth it

Change paste (Use MX4, Is the recommended. Don't buy the cheapest, they are clones of it) and buy a cheapo second brand stand (I use a hooligans one, i got rid of the brand logo with nail polisher and looks ok, it lost the shine glossy but idk) and lower the temps and you're gold
 
I have a chech-2504a which i replaced the paste with mx-4. I get a max reading of 63C on cpu and 67C on rsx with 27% fan speed. When the rsx hits 68C the ps3 bumps the fan speed up to 32% so ot falls back to 67C.

Is this kinda ok?

Yeah my 2501A at 30% is about 57° so seems kinda high to me. That being said I have the OC done to my 2501A the difference isn't nothing special if I am honest. A couple games see a bit of increase but the trades in temps if it is a daily use system I would t suggest till you get those temps down bud.

57 RSX? at 30 FAN is more than respectable, I get 57 RSX with fan at 35 and 51 CPU

My CPU is static as It gets, the max I got was 53 in GTA with cops all arround

RSX though, always goes up to 57 qnd in menús drops like crazy to matching number of CPU (51 51)

CECH 2501 with 40 45 mm
