PS2 Is the 75001 an inferior model to run MC2SIO on?

I don't see a lot of documentation for the 75001 Slim model on the MC2SIO compatibility sheet. I've been testing a bunch of games(that I'll be submitting to the sheet when I complete more testing) that are noted to be working on other 7k models(i.e. Burnout 3, Gran Turismo 4, Need For Speed titles), and so far I've either gotten a black screen or stuck on loading with the 75001.

I understand using an HDD in a fat model is a better way to play backups, but I'd love to have this Slim performing better so I can have a more portable option for travel. I wonder if it'd be best to just pick up a 79k or 77k.

I wouldn't say inferior. A lot of the times folks do not give notes as to how they got it to work. There is a ton of this seen with the PS2 & PSP emulators on the PS3. Now I know the one I just bought doesn't work worth a damn using San Disk SD cards. Works great with literally every other card I have. Even cheap Chinese knock offs and Walmart brand give me no issues. So you may have a hardware issue but doesn't mean it is the PS2 or maybe you do not have all the info the testers had.

I wish I had more time to dedicate to testing the 75001. I want to put this stuff down so people in the future with the same model can have access to a better resource. It seems like I should probably grab a different Slim model for better(or more predictable) performance.

I've learned so much more from using MC2SIO than I did from setting up my HDD. The sheer amount of variables that can explain what went wrong(specific Game ID's, SD card, OPL/FMCB version, Modes) is scary. Here's hoping the devs keep doing amazing work and in due time we get more concise information on MC2SIO.

Most of the racing games won't load / go to black screen when using a PS1 DS1 controller, you can test this and see for yourself if you have a PS1 DS1 and DS2 / DS3 controllers.

This whole time I thought "PS1 DS1 controllers" was in reference to the Playstation 1 remote. :dejection: I just looked at my controller, and I believe it's a DS2 just because of the blue lettering up by the cable.

MX4SIO is different to MC2SIO... the Devs here created MX4SIO, and someone called Angry Helder came along recently and cloned it - calling it MC2SIO but there are difference. MC2SIO doesn't have the same components or design layout. So it's hard to say if the issue is with the copy MC2SIO. I have a MX4SIO and i have tested 180+ games on that spread-sheet and 99% of the racing games work perfectly with a Sony DS2 controller (not PS1 controller).

Yeah a Sony DualShock 2 Controller will have written "DualShock 2" where the cable enters the controller.

Is the MX4SIO being mass-produced for sale? At this point I'd try just about anything, I've come too far to give up.

Thanks a lot man. I read into the whole situation with Helder and his versions, it's pretty messed up not much help and credit is being given to the original devs. I hope they can get some fairness soon. In the meantime I'll report the troubles I've been having and wait for some updates.

Yeah bro come post about your compatibility issues on the MX4SIO thread i linked above, that's the main thread for everything MX4SIO, many friends are there with experience how to fix the same problems. You could list some details like what MicroSD card you are using, etc, the process you went through when you ran into your compatibility issues. Any advise you get there will help others also with the same problems. See you there :onthego:
