You cant use other os on hen because u dont have lv1 patches (and maybe other stuff - i have never had interest in it so i dont know all the patches needed).

Anyway Linux on ps3 is a bad idea (256mb ram and gpu driver issues) and also ps3 cpu is power pc, an architecture no longer supporterd (neither by the kernel nor by the applications).

If u need a filemanger use multiman or managunz (that has a better filemanager that support ntfs devices)

Its not very useful but you can use dosbox to mount an operating system, I've personally used it to mount windows xp just for novelty sake. It "should" work fine on hen but you are entirely limited to the apps limitations.

Isnt win xp micro kernel written for x86 while ps3 is ppc? The performances wasnt so poor to make it almost unusable?

Linux (compiled for ppc, as red ribbon linux, that uses lxde, a very light de) is already slow on ps3, i cant image how slow would be win xp on ps3: we have almost no ram, rsx (custom nvidia gpu) has no driver from what I recall (and even if we had a driver it would be bad as nvidia driver are closed source so we may have a reverse engineering driver)

DOSBox is emulator. Emulators emulating one platform on another. ;)

Linux You mentioned, works on OtherOS level, it is a limited VM. DOSBox runs in so called GameOS, with access to everything what eg. retail games can access to.

Can you in theory run Linux in DosBox?

DOSBox runs DOS (MS-DOS, FreeDOS etc; no Windows but Windows 95 was DOS based, it is not possible to start any later, especially from NT family like XP was) only. ;)
