PS3 Issue with 4 TB External Hard Drive Recognition on PS3 Slim "SOLVED"

Hello PSX-Place community,

I'm encountering a specific issue and am hopeful for your insights. Up until now, I've been playing my PS3 ISOs using external hard drives – a 1 TB drive and two 500 GB HDDs with a SATA-USB adapter. Everything worked seamlessly. Recently, I acquired a 4 TB external hard drive (WD_Black P10), factory-formatted as exFAT, too.

After copying my ISOs to the PS3ISO folder and connecting the 4 TB drive to my PS3 Slim, it unfortunately wasn't recognized, despite being prepared with prepISO.
Have any of you faced a similar scenario or found a solution to my particular issue?

Thank you in advance for your precise assistance!

Hello,

I found a solution that might be helpful to others facing a similar problem.

I used the "WD Quick Formatter for Windows" to format the 4 TB hard drive. On WD's support page, it was mentioned that if the drive is over 2 TB and might be used with Windows XP in the future, choose "XP Compatible." I opted for this setting, formatting the drive as NTFS with only one partition.
After transferring the game "Plants vs. Zombies" to the drive, I connected it to the PS3 Slim, ran prepISO, and voila! The game appeared in Webman under Games.
For those struggling with similar issues, consider this approach and ensure your drive is formatted in a way compatible with both your PS3 and any potential use with Windows XP.

However, I am open to corrections or alternative solutions if this may not be the optimal path.
Hope this helps!

ps: german xD
