Issues emulating with HEN 3.0

First time posting here and very new to PS3 nodding scene. I'm trying to get PS2 emulation running on a superslim HEN PS3, and having no luck. HEN is working fine, and I have multiman installed and running as well without issue. I'm trying to emulate the Xenosaga series from .PKG files that I . converted over from the ISO ripped directly from the disc with PS2 classics GUI, and the file seems to have installed fine for Xenosaga episode 1, but if I try to boot it the system just restarts and displays the 80028F17. Any help is much appreciated, as I really want to replay the series. And to be clear, i own all three games, so I will be getting the game files from the discs.
 
Thanks for the reply. Sorry if original post is confusing. I already converted the original ISO I ripped into PKG using classics GUI. The PKG installed with no issues, it just won't boot. Xenosaga ep1 is listed as compatible, justvwith a known bug related to certain save points. The game uses DVD9 format, but I dont know if that matters.
 
Honestly I'm not sure. I have had trouble finding a guide that covers proper setup for ps2 classic gui all the way through. Is it the 2p0001 rap file? Does it just go in the EXDATA folder of the ps3? Sorry, still very new to this.
 
No, I didnt change the name. I never moved it to EXDATA. And I'm on the current version of HEN. 3.0 I think. Just updated last night.
I didnt think I needed the RAP file for xenosaga, since it was never released as an official ps2 classic game. I'll copy it over later.

Move it rap file in EXDATA.

The guide applies to all ps3 models (although wasted on CFW compatible models)
Backups that are compatible with HEN are ps1, ps2 (encrypted iso only, .BIN.ENC), ps3 and psp (psp game compatibility is pretty bad though) and of course PKG (ps2 customs or legit)

The guide covers pretty much everything. And there is no risk of a hard brick with HEN, there are a couple of soft brick scenarios but nothing that can't be fixed and nothing in my guide will cause a soft brick anyway.
 
Ah okay. i think i will just start over and reinstall everything other than HEN so i have a fresh start. Just for future, is there any guide that explains how to handle multi disk games with HEN for playing backups. Both the second and third Xenosaga games are two disc.
