Just unboxed and plugged in my new slim that I splurged for. I wanted to have a complete unit in new condition. After creating a new freemcboot card for it, getting opl set up over network and doing a few other things I decided to play a retail game.
And of course it won't read DVD discs. Ps1 games and cd's work fine of course. This might be expected on a used console with a dying laser. Everything is spining correctly, the brake is disengaged and im getting the usual laser clicking as it adjusts and tries to read.
I could swap the laser and have done so before on another console but im looking to see if anyone has any other suggestions because I can't imagine why a new unit would have this issue, of course as old as they are now it isn't "new" but hopefully you understand what I mean. Also I am 100% sure it is a new unit and hasn't been re-sealed/tampered with. Any suggestions?
