PS3 Its Here - Rebug REX & D-REX Editions Of 4.78.2 Custom Firmware With Official Cobra 7.3

A couple of days ago I reported the unofficial release of the COBRA 7.3 updater for Rebug's 4.78.1 custom firmware. There was some concerns regarding the updater which added the much anticipated COBRA 7.3 version that was developed by Habib and Mysis. This version of COBRA fixed the controller sync issue when launching PS2 ISO's from the XMB's disc icon which was introduced in Habibs 4.78 STARBUCKS[break].[/break] custom firmware. So if you where holding out for the official release of said COBRA 7.3 implemented into the most popular of custom firmwares, the wait is now over!

No bd

Can anyone create a no bd version of this cfw? I have in my ps3 4.75.3 rebug without bd metd and works perfect, but i like to upgrade :D
Please and Thanks :D Sorry my english

Does anyone else get some occasional controller sync issues (in ps3 mode even) where the controller won't turn on the console? Turn it on via the ps3, then press the button on the controller and it syncs fine. Or occasionally drop out completely and have to use the cable again?

Or is my controller just starting to die? Could just be coincidence that it started happening when I went to cobra 7.3. (Both habibs and to a lesser extent rebug) A database rebuild did seem to lessen the problem on habibs though.

Also on a cold boot launching a ps2 game straight up (maybe once in 6 boots roughly) will crash just after the ps2 logo with 3 beeps, then the power led just flashes red until I press the power button which turns it solid red, then press it once more to start up the system again.

Edit: Actually maybe the controller issues are related to the crashes. It's right when the press button to turn on ps2 controller bubble is about to pop up that it crashes.

I think I really need to get rid of this troublesome unit and fix my old one or get a slim lol

i used to get sync issues on rebug 4.75.3. never did find the cause, but i switched to habib cfw and sync problems never happened again

I mounted a PS2ISO (Second Sight PAL) via webMAN on my slim PS3 and I get "Unsupported Data" disc icon on my XMB, and "this PS3 model is not compatible with PS2 software" if I try to run the game. Am I missing something? I'm in REBUG mode, retail XMB, COBRA PS2 emulator files. This happens with IRISMAN and mmCM too.

Have you enabled COBRA from toolbox?

Maybe you modified your devflash? Looks like vsh hash fail to me..

Yep, I did :D
I didn't think about that. Do I need to recompile from source or can I change the vsh hash manually somewhere?

Yeah just use hashcalc to get the hash and hex edit the binary or fix modulespatch.h and recompile the source. Either way works

Thank you for the tip I'm able to see the PS2 disc icon now :)
Anyway I get a black screen when trying to start a game. I will try with unmodified dev_flash when I have time, thank you again

I noticed some missing icons in ★ Custom Firmware Tools in Network category on ingame XMB, here is a RCO that solves it if anyone else has noticed or would like to fix it for themselves.

Jeez I get a dislike for sharing a fixed RCO, maybe some people just like missing icons :p

Not sure about this case, but sometime i clicked dislike accidentally when trying to zoom on smartphone (double tap). Or maybe really someone like missing icons. :)

Yeah probably a mis-click.

Here is a slightly edited cfw_settings_en.xml if anyone wants to look, I changed the main icon to the settings icon, I think it looks a little better as there are too many standard folder icons on the main XMB as it is (everyone uses it because its available in almost all RCO's) , and Ive changed the reboot icons as they were a little too zoomed in and rough around the edges IMO. These icons are already available on flash so no need to add any extra icons if you want to do this change..

I tried waybackmachine to get Rex the other day and it errored out on install. I gave up and installed ferro or evilnat. Rebug needs to get their shit together and fix the damn site already, or at least put the downloads somewhere we can access them and not on ps scene files
