Jailbroken PS3 Stuck On Loop With Update

Hi, around a half a year ago I helped a friend jailbreak his PS3 and successfully pulled it off. When the newest official PS update rolled in, he updated and now he is stuck in a loop trying to update showing the error 8002F334. What can we do to fix this? Thanks.

If You have i.e EID Root Key for this console, You can attach HDD to PC, mount dev_hdd1 on Linux and delete update file. Other way is formatting HDD.

Well my SATA to USB adapter recently broke so I'm out of that option. Also he wants to keep his saves and other stuff, theoretically could it be possible to put that HDD to a non-jailbroken PS3, back all the saves to USB or whatever, then put it back and format?

No. Every HDD is encrypted by unique per unit key, and this is one of the reasons why You should make dump of all PCKs right after installed CFW. In example, ERK (EID Root Key) giving You access to this specific HDD on PC to i.e copy some stuff.

SATA controllers for USB are mostly junk and You shouldn't trust them because they not support all atacmd, which is important when You need access on low level.

I have the same issue at moment with a mates PS3. I sorted this problem out a few years ago but I managed to keep all my files, games etc on original HDD and worked. I'll have to test it out again but I'm sure when I put in a new HDD I installed rogero downgrader, then ofw 3.55, put in the original HDD then updated to cfw.

Can you please help me with error 8002f334 on a super slim ps3 i bought a new hdd and did the steps nothing happens

I even tried the recovery menu but it still appears on the update count down
