I found the only 60GB PS3 (CECHC04) in my region on LeBonCoin (a site like Craigslist in France). It was reasonably priced and fully functional.
Aesthetically, the console is in great shape very few scratches. It's missing the PS logo, but the warranty sticker is still intact.
I contacted the seller and asked to go to ps3toolset.com/bgtoolset, then navigate to the System Manager tab and give me the system uptime, Syscon revision, and the list of Syscon errors.
The console have a 90nm RSX, has been used for nearly 70 days total, and the only errors listed were 1001 (Power Cell) and 1004 (Power AC/DC).
So it looks like Errors 1001 and 1004 were caused by an improper shutdown, but I'll still run a stress test to investigate further and see if they reappear under load, just to rule out any early signs of NEC/TOKIN capacitor failure.
Either way, I plan to replace the NEC/TOKINs as a preventative measure to extend the system's lifespan and ensure long-term stability.
I tested the system, and apart from some heat and a slightly loud fan, everything worked fine.
I installed CFW 4.92.2 Evilnat and set up Webman to control the fan speed and monitor temperatures in-game.
I played The Last of Us for 1 hour and Gran Turismo 6 for 17 minutes (it was 3 AM, was too tired to keep going haha).
So far, no problems at all. The fan ramps up to around 46% to keep the temps below 68°C. No crashes, no artifacts, no issues.
I also tested PS2 disc compatibility, no issues there either. Everything on the console works as expected.
I made a LV1 dump to check who manufactured the RSX and get the binning info.
rsx: b08 500/650 vpe:ff shd:3f [AP0006007:1:1:11:c:12:2:f:1][16:3:1:1:1:3:1][0:0:0]
Here's what I'll be doing:
If you have any tips, feel free to share, I'm all ears!
edit #1 : Thanks to @NightLess, I will upgrade to a dual laser BD410 and add a SSD

- RSX made by Toshiba ? (Sony ??)
- Binning: 3 (regular)
Here's what I'll be doing:
- Full internal dust cleanup
- Replace Nec/TOKIN with tantalizer 0.9b by RIP-Felix for Cell and RSX
- Delid the CPU and RSX
- Replace thermal paste under and over the IHS (Arctic MX-4)
- Replace thermal pads (from the delid kit)
- Install a bracer
- Disassemble, clean and lubricate the Blu-ray drive (using SuperLube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease with Syncolon, part No. 21030)
- Replace the missing PS logo
- Undervolt the system
