PS2 Load apps from HDD with the FMCB menu?

In the FMCB Configurator I can add custom menu items for applications stored on memory card or USB drive.

But I want to have entries for applications on the internal HDD (hdd0:/_SYSCONF/APPS/) and can't get it to work. They don't show up after added them in the OSDSYS options and FMCB doesn't spin-up the internal HDD at boot.

I tried to disable the "fastboot" option without succes. And I also tried to set the option "skip HDD update check" to "off". Then it will spin-up the HDD at boot but load the HDD-OSD without the custom menu...

Because there's a modchip in the console, it's not convenient to use FHDB because even the "for modchips" versions need the Modbo 5.0 to be disabled each time to load any application.

How can I list apps stored on the internal HDD in the OSDSYS menu using FMCB?

I'm not sure if FMCB allows that, TBH don't remember. But anyway, Your path is wrong. Full args path is needed.

FMCB only supports ELFs on MC and USB.

They won't and it does turn the HDD on, when SkipHDD Update check is off.

That's for discs (CD, DVD)!

Then your setup is wrong... Let me guess... You used one of these stupid images. If you did, I can tell you right now that you can redo your entire internal HDD setup!

Try to disable multiple settings of the modchip, like Greenscreen Fix, Macrovision Fix, etc.!

You can NOT!

It doesn't!

Oh, so I can't use FMCB to load iHDD apps. It's confusing that's possible to select them in the menu settings.

No, I didn't use any images to setup this HDD.

It's long time ago I installed this one. I used a uLaunchELF version (booted via the Modbo chip) to format it back then and setup things like the OPL partition. The first games was installed with WinHIIP and later with HDLGameInstaller because I didn't want to pull out the HDD each time.

Some weeks ago I wanted to try FHDB so I installed HDD-OSD (copied the files to __SYSTEM and __SYSCONF with uLaunchELF) and then FHDB. That was the point I realise FHDB didn't play well with the also installed Modbo 5.0. So I uninstalled FHDB with the uninstall-function in the installer.

Since I uninstalled FHDB, HDD-OSD is automatically loaded if the console is booted without FMCB card inserted. And it's not possible to uninstall HDD-OSD by removing the files I copied back then. If I do so, the console will black screen and endless spin up and down the HDD if it's booted without FMCB card (or if the skip HDD update option in FMCB is set to "off"). So I putted back the HDD-OSD files.

I already tried that without succes, even with all options disabled. On another forum was a thread from someone else with the same combi (Modbo 5.0 + FHDB) and not using it (=switch to FMCB) or manually disable the modchip every time seem to be the only solution. FHDB boots, but launching each app gives a black screen with the chip enabled.

1. Open Your HDD in HxD as administrator on Windows and overwrite marked bytes on image below on dark blue color (offsets 0x130 up to 140). This will not remove bootstrap, but make it none bootable (if You are curious, first field tell the address of bootstrap, second tits size).

2. After that, open HDD in IsoBuster, then export "__mbr" partition or APA section as *.dsk file (right button mouse on partition or green rectangle, on __mbr in treeview (left panel)).

3. Drag and drop this file into APA Partition Header Checksumer app, it will output new checksum. Overwrite first four bytes (light blue on screenshot above) by value which this app output (if You will not correct checksum, PS2 firmware will see HDD as not formatted).
