PS3 HAN Low Framerate Issues on PS3 : Any Fix via HAN Possible ?

Slowdowns because of HAN? what a load of crap! I have an original copy of MGS5 and then got the digital to work through HAN and let me tell you, they run exactly the same! Game doesn't even benefit from being on an SSD unfortunately as textures are as slow to load as they are on disc version. Other games I've tried are GTA 5, that one does benefit from an SSD and there's hardly any texture pop ins.
HAN is great, anybody having issues must be your consoles or hard drives lol
 
Just to clarify, using HAN cannot impact performance in any way!
HAN is a licensing exploit, as far as the system is concerned, the only difference between a HAN resigned game & the original PSN game is the "key" used to verify the game files signature on loading. It's like a change of password for another password of identical size & complexity if you prefer, impact on performance == 0.

In HDMI v2.1 specification is supported a technology named VRR (variable refresh rate) that reduces the lag, the first TV manufacturer supporting VRR was samsung in the TVs manufactured at beginning of 2018

All this is supposed to reduce video lag to 10ms or so, and i guess this is going to become an standard in 2019

Today are not needed but you know, when you buy a new TV is an investment of money intended to last for the next 5 years... or more. So this VRR is going to be a "must have" in the same way the 1080p was a "must have" some years ago

I am not a friend of OLEDs, after owning a few OLED devices, i must admit, if i buy a TV or another device that has OLED, full of problems, and a panel that you have to constantly babysit. Burn-In,Image Retention and Black Crush, its a big issue, buy many people dont acknowledge it, and cover it under wraps, but for me care free its LCD and soon QLED. The only OLED device i own, its the Original PSVITA, but even that i barely touch it, and its understandable.

Yep, QLED (and something named like QOLED if i remember right) is another thing that is going to become standard, and i was reading about another specification announcement named "HDR true black" published by VESA, not sure if the new TVs are ging to be compilant with all this in a short time

This things becomes a complete mess, everytime i think in TVs it comes to mind that feeling you have when you enter in the TVs department of a mall/shop and you look around you and you see lot of TVs with hundreds of stickers at the corners with "logos and shit" nobody understands (i like technology but this is too much) you are bombarded by tech propaganda like... TrueHD, fullHDmax, HDRxxx, trueblackmax, hdmi 2.1 rev 47, usb boost mode, linkplus, supersmarttv... and any other name they invents
Usually some of them doesnt even follows standard naming, so every manufacturers uses his variant of the name

And you are like WTF !!! i dont know which one of this features is "the good" or which one is worthy to worry about... better i will step back and go home, i need to google some of this shit, lol

I dont get why people get obsessed with OLED "true blacks", all it does its to turn off the pixels, on a black frame, its good for Display Demos, like shown on CES or a retail store, but it real life its god damn awful.

Ive had many LCDs that can nearly replicate the oversaturate OLED colors, but "perfect blacks" arent my cup of tea.

Its all marketing BS, most people will pay through the nose for something expensive because marketing when if they shop about they can find a TV that does the same thing for half the price. For example when I got my 40" HDTV Full 1080p they were about £350 for a branded product say Panasonic. I found a TV that did exactly the same thing as the one for £350 for £125.99 which i bought (ProScan 40" LED HDTV) and the 47" was only £185.

The only way I would buy one of these expensive "top of the Range" branded TVs is if it meant a could sit on the sofa with Yoda and have a f**king cup of coffee with him because it was that good :D. Other than that people should shop about instead of looking for all this fancy crap. Its all money with the companies now, not what people want or need.

Well, by now the winner in displaying black colors is OLED, the difference is between LED and OLED is the OLED panels doesnt have a white fluorescent light at back of the panel, this is why are thinner (because there is no light at back)
In OLED every pixel have his own light source, this way the pixel can be "turned off" in a better way

But im not into this fetishism either, i mean... is nice but by now is expensive and is not a safe bet, eventually could appear other technology with the the same results

I've read somewhere HDMI 2.1 isn't going to fully solve input lag problems, but 9-10 ms lag delay cut sure seems pretty nice to me, compile that with Game Mode in your tv with all enhancements off its going to be pretty decent, also in the name of hdmi 2.1 they are sure to brand it "FOR THE GAMERS" & pretty much gonna give it a 5000$ price tag. Bullshit tbh

Is true that every small shit labeled as "gaming" you are paying a plus just for the hype and exclusivity, but i think with HDMI 2.1 is not going to happen, and that VRR and HDR is a worthy feature for gaming
It happens lot of times that small technolocical evolutions are just "meh" but i think the next generation of TVs are a milestone in image quality
By now is not worthy, but the next generation of consoles is going to use al that, im sure sony will "jump" in the wagon because they has been always manufacturers of audio and video equipment since lot of years ago (even before playstation consoles), this is one reason why i like sony

Im sure this is going to make them even more unrelliables, is not needed to be a genius to deduce it, something that "moves" is more prone to break that something that is "static" (and im talking about microfractures in the pixels)

And i dont even know the price of this "rollable OLED" TVs, but prepare some thousands... are going to be the same price than a modest car

I dont see how an OLED panel its reliable? Its full of problems that never comes alone, for me LCD all the way, heck even a good quality LCD with the right calibration tone gets the OLED colours right.

I meant the rollables OLED screens are going to be even less relliables than standard OLED... they are adding problems :D

I think the foldables screens (in samsung smartphones eventually) are going to be even worst because the bending happens always in the same line, so there is an area of the screen that is going to be more "stressed" than other areas of the screen

Dunno, but this technologies doesnt makes me have any confidence in them, also using them in home TVs is a nonsense imo, if there is some segment of the market where rollables and foldables screens could be handy is for portable devices

I mean it's certainly possible to patch the game and tweak graphical settings to get better performance. The best example of this is in Mirror's Edge where I was able to disable VSync among other stuff and play at a somewhat stable 40-45 FPS for the majority of the levels, some levels even played at 60+ (with increased FOV too).

Changing the resolution is off limits though, I believe it's hardcoded in the EBOOT and I've never attempted to change it, I'm not even sure if you'd get decent results. It's a shame because you could really squeeze the most out of PS3 games if you were able to change this within settings like on PC.

Nevertheless, I was able to tweak a lot of games to get better performance out of them (Far Cry 3 included), so it most definitely works. I'm obviously not the first to do this either, but I guess the people who do this kind of stuff generally don't share their work, I guess that includes me? Lol

I didn't know that was possible, do you have any idea If you can disable v-sync for MGS5 TPP among other things?
 
is there a way to lock the fps at 30 with custom firmware? i know it will still dip under but it would be nice to not have to deal with it also jumping up as well
