Hello to everybody.
I'm testing all emulators for PS3 and i think there isn't the definitive emulator, we have to use all together exploiting their best features. Just for MAME i think Mame v0.125 is very very good and I have studied it to improve it. It support a large amount of roms, but limited. If you put more than 4096 roms into its Roms/ directory, it crashs. It recognize only roms (v.125 rom set) specified in its configuration files. Snap images have to be putted into subfolders 0/ a/ b/ c/...... z/ inside snap/ folder. Spans are very important for me :P
I made a little patch PKG to add the infos into config files to add new roms to be recognized, roms before tested by me. I changed an instruction image to specify where put snap sbfolders. The work is in progres.
The patch have to be installed AFTER main MAME v.125.

1943 Kai: Midway Kaisen (Japan)
280-ZZZAP
Sankokushi (Japan)
4 Fun in 1
Paparazzi

Not to burst your bubble, but mame on ps3 is barely playable, it's an old ass build that never got updated and has many, many emulation problems (ie it can't run old Konami hardware at full speed, half the romset just boots you back to xmb). Why not just stick to FBA RL or using retroarch?
 
Yes, no roms, just the necessary to be recognized. All configuration files edited to works correctly, plus a better insruction image, all into a little .pkg to be installed.
I would like a lot find source code to try to do more....
A nice game (for me), Galaxy Force 2, works well only this Ps3 Mame version....
Other roms must be putted into other Ps3 Mame... there isn't the definitive mame (or FB) for PS3...
Meanwhile RetroArch seems stopped to be compiled for PS3. Still stopped at 1.8.1.... :apologetic:

thanks for the edit crystal i install your pkg in my ps3 all is fine, doyou know how to put 1080p resolution in mame 0.125? is very poor in graphics options... ty
 
hey crystal you know how to EDIT TXT of configuration for antialiaing o shaders this emulator is basic but very good for run a lot of roms :(

Me parece muy interesante agregar juegos y clones ... es una pena que no haya tutoriales en youtube de ese estilo de cosas .... si quieres te paso mi correo soy de argentina .... saludos estamos en contacto

hello crystal .. you don't have any more pkg patches for the mame 0.125 ps3 to add more games ... I'm trying to see what you discovered ... I find it very interesting to add games and clones ... it's a shame there are no tutorials on youtube of that style of things .... if you want I will pass my email to you I'm from Argentina .... greetings we are in contact

I suggest you to use FBNeoRL Plus. It contains Mame 0.125 too and you can call all mame 0.125 roms set with it (some of rom can't works... but it's easier).
 
Hello crystal the problem is in mame 0.125 you can play with the cheats to all the games and in fbaneo you can't ... I just want to make the art of fighting work in mame 0.125..the King of fighters .... metal slug. ..samurai shodow ...... the other ROMs work fine for me

With FBNeoRL Plus you can play with mame 0.125 core. It (FBNeoRL plus) is used as front end. Just put mame 0.125 roms set into a folder named MAME125 and then make a rescan roms....
 
Crystal i am confused... Because you suggest using fbNeo instead of this mame. Retroarch is a nice project. But in
Machine with poor ram is better use the orig emulator... On wii some people use hd cache for manage large roms. That feature can be achieved with ps3?
 
Yes .. you are a bit confuded. I mean FBNeo RL plus frontend (the menu). You use it to choice the game and then to start the game with the right core.
Also mame 0.125 ps3 application have a frontend (menu) and a core (mame 0.125). You can use FBNeo RL Plus as frontend to start mame 0.125 core.
Now is it a bit cleaner?

¿the core mame 0.125 runs cps3 roms? i've tried to run a certain number for roms even of mame 0.125 and it don't works (in the pc version the chds and other files comes separate in folders etc) i have the same problem with de sfiii3 with the fbaneo core gives a black screen

No, you need to use FB Neo for CPS3 games. Unfortunately, the newest version of that core is broken with CPS3.

¿what core is broken ?¿ the mame core or the fba core ? because the fba runs well sfiii and sfiii 2 (although slowly), the sfiii3 is the one that no works in fba,neo mod i was unabble to make it works, every rom i've tried mame or not ,.gives a black screen

Someone reported that the newest version of FB Neo did not play CPS3 games, although that was a while ago and I haven't been messing around with arcade games recently. I do know that it did play all CPS3 games in the past. EDIT - Actually, I think it's the FBA2012 core that plays all CPS3, see this post and several posts after it...https://www.psx-place.com/threads/fb-neo-rl-plus.29718/page-2#post-228354
