PS3 Managunz freezes when mounting (PS2) ISO

Hi,

my PS3 slim 20XX is on Rebug 4.85.1 and everything works great.

I just tried to use Managunz to install/edit PS2 CONFIG files. When I tried to mount the iso, the Managunz screen changes to the screen with the little bullet on top. Here, the PS3 completely freezes and can only be rebooted when I press the power button for >10s. I tired 2-3 different isos but all to the same effect. I'm not really inclined to test many more, as everytime I have to let the filesystem check run by :P

The same isos mount and play fine when I use wmm or sman, so I guess it's a Managunz issue?

It's not a big issue for me, as I usually don't use Managunz for mounting, it's just for convenience sake ;)

Yes, it's probably an issue from ManaGunZ.

Can you help to fix it ? I need more information.

What is your firmware ? Are you in HEN ? Which game did you test ? Do you have any message on screen when it freeze ? What is the version of managunz ?

My firmware is Rebug 4,85.1 lite (cfw). I'm pretty sure I tested Bloodrayne 1 or 2 because I was setting up the CONFIG files for them. There was no message, the screen changed to the one with the racing bullet and this cycling ring in the upper right corner, but everything just froze there.

My first try was with my installed Managunz 1.35, but I updated to 1.36 after the crash and tried again. 1.36 crashes at the same point.

The isos are on the internal hdd in PS2ISO.

Oh, and I changed sman to webmanMOD in case it could be a incompatibility between webman and Managunz.

ManaGunZ v1.37 is the latest version - have you tried using that?

And no text messages at top-left corner ?
Im asking because when you mount a backup managunz sometimes displays some info at top-left corner
 
Ok! Thanks guys. Managunz update to 1.37 fixed the issue. I can now mount my PS2 isos!

Hello,
Completely new to all of this, I just jailbroke my PS3 today using the tutorial on youtube by MrMario2011, which worked totally fine. I have installed Managunz v1.37 but I still get the frozen blue screen of death when trying to mount an ISO. As Ecto described it's the same blue screen as theirs that it gets stuck on and can only be shut down by holding down the power button. I have tried with the only 2 PS2 games I have which are Disgaea Hour of Darkness and Buffy Chaos Bleeds. I get the same result each time from both games, it freezes as soon as I tell it to mount the ISO and I have to hold down the power button. Can anyone help at all please? I have no idea what I'm doing! I have nobody else to ask for help on this. Could it just be bad luck that I have two games that just don't work as ISOs on a PS3?
 
Hello Same issue4 with madeleine1988 and managunz 1.37. Application really beats up my PS3 as it stuck completely while loading and needs to hold down the power button for a hefty sthut down.
It cant load good MD5s that run silky smooth with MM with no emulation at all such as PSX games. It just simply stucks/Freezes every time you try to load a game.

The same game runs ok with multiman. i.e Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex Pal edition (which runs OK as per combality list)
Another issue i noticed the application always have a miss with the MD5s....and the games isos/bins/cues are correct.

Can you please check this out, it's a pitty because the application looks very promising especially with the config files etc.

Hi, first of all, are you on CFW or HEN? Have you tried other backup managers? Disgaea should work fine as it's a PS2 Classic and so was officially released on the PS3.

As for Buffy, it's marked as 'Unplayable' on the PS2 Classics Emulator Compatibility List which refers to ps2_netemu.self emulator which the PS3 uses for both PS2 Classic official releases from the PS Store as well as ISO mounting on non-backwards compatible PS3 models.

No I haven't tried other backup managers, is there one that would work better than multiman? Would disgaea need something different? If you can link me to a tutorial then that may be helpful as I'm not well versed enough to necessarily know what to do with any and all software that can be downloaded for a jailbroken ps3.

Is there any way I can get this to work just using what I already have installed? I. E. Have I missed a setting somewhere?

There's no reason why Disgaea shouldn't work, as it's a PS2 Classic and so the PS3's in-built PS2 emulator is designed to run it as it is a vanilla feature. I personally use webMAN MOD to mount all my PS1/2/3 ISOs but there's nothing wrong with ManaGunZ. I just suggest trying webMAN MOD simply to eliminate it being an issue with one backup manager as opposed to the ISO itself.

I ended up feeling around in the dark downloading irisman webman mod and the ps2 emulator file from that and that worked. I don't know why it just crashed on managunz. But after three days I've finally got it to work.

Looks like latest ManaGunZ is not for CFW 4.86, yet...

(I`ve also followed MrMario tutorial on CFW 4.86 (rebug LE) like 2-3 days ago and ManaGunZ freezes upon pressing "X" on ISO image (Devil May Cry))

i think it will work fine on 4.86 but may say you are on 4.85...try checking options...i dont use managunz but some backup managers have options like "bd mirror" that are not needed for iso OR turn on "cobra" mode will help if you find a setting like that.
 
Just to add to this existing thread I'm getting the exact same issue with Managunz on 4 86. Irishman works fine. Guess its a managunz issue. Shame as I wanted a manager that has all ps1,ps2,ps3 games in one long list
 
Hey guys, I'm also having this issue on evilnats 4.87 with managunz v1.38. When I try to load a ps2 game it just freezes. I would prefer to use managunz over webman mod because it looks better. Thanks.

Edit: so I guess neither ps1, ps2 or ps3 games launch with managunz... I'm guessing it's completely broken?

Well, yeah, managunz is firmware version dependant because it contains a "payload" specific for every firmware version and firmware type (CEX or DEX) and managunz v1.38 has not been updated to add support for 4.87 firmwares yet

If you are in 4.87 is better to dont use it yet, some features could work (stuff related with filemanager or maybe some special boot modes), but in general managunz v1.38 is going to be very unestable in firmware 4.87. If you do you are going to get an impression that is a complete disaster, but thats not true, it works very well in previous firmware versions :)
