PS3 ManaGunZ HEN support (feedback needed)

With that settings is needed to insert a real disc in the BD drive ?
Incase the answer is yes... have you tryed to enable also the "mount app_home" ? (to remove the requirement of the real disc inserted in the BD drive)

The whole point of PS3HEN (Cobra) is disc-less. so not required at all. multiman payload requires physical BD otherwise app_home only.

I use multiMAN payload without disc with no problems so far, weird

Then it's conflicting since managunz doesn't detect PS3HEN properly. You shouldn't use multiman payload at all, but the suggested config only as long as you're running PS3HEN v2

you mean, having MultiMAN & ManaGunZ both installed made a conflict or something else?

I meant "multiman payload" inside Managunz.
then from what I see, it's x2 weird that I use multiman payload + bdmirror to run the game on managunz, but using multiman itself + bdmirror didn't work... perhaps I should try using cobra without bdmirror on managunz and try again on multiman now that i have V2? like... just for... research purposes? xD

1. Use the config above for Managunz
2. don't touch BD mirror on multiMAN (mmCM)

I'm not going to repeat this again.

@Joonie

Can you help to make mgz support hen without issues ?

I read about HEN a little bit. Here is my conclusions/questions.

- Does 'Direct boot' working ? (every lego games can be booted directly)
- Clean syscall doesn't work because we can't poke in lv2.
- change idps doesn't work because we can't poke in lv2.
- Ext. game data doesn't work ?
- BD mirroir is useless ? You wrote cobra hen was doing something similar to the bd mirroir.
- Patching sprx isn't working ? (probably because the sprx isn't signed correctly ?) I know cobra is patching these modules too, so, it's 'useless' anyway.
- mount /app_home doesn't work ? also useless ?
- Set primary usb ? I don't know... it use SYSCALL8_OPCODE_FAKE_STORAGE_EVENT .

Should I remove the menu game settings completely ? and Force the user to use this settings only :

- It support PS3 iso, PS3 JB.
- It doesn't support PS2 iso.
- does it support PS1 iso ?
- does it support PSP iso ?

My conclusion are : I show only PS3 backups and I remove every game settings. There is only 1 way to mount the backup.

Initially i was thinking that it could be better to keep at least the option "Payload" and display the string "HEN" at right but locked and in a darkest color, in the same way you are doing it when you boot ManaGunZ in a CFW without cobra and you show the option "Payload = Mamba" locked
Mostly for informative purposes, this way the user knows HEN has been detected correctly and the game backup is going to be mounted using functions that are dependant of HEN

But... if all the other options under the group "Game Settings" are going to be removed for HEN and the only one is going to be the "Payload = HEN" (and is going to be locked) im not so sure if is better to remove all them

Dunno, i would keep the payload in the way im suggesting, mostly for informative purposes and as something preventive because at some point in the next ManaGunZ/HEN versions (incase some additional hack is discovered) you are going to need to make the group "Game Settings" to appear again

------------------------------------------
Btw, if some HEN user could give some feedback about which features works in HEN, which doesnt, or if there is some specific feature that could be handy for HEN specifically... please do it now

I been told the "Create shorcut PKG" (for PS3 games) is broken in HEN... can someone confirm this and take a look at it ?

I'm currently using HEN, until Wednesday I'll be really busy and I can't take a look at it but here I'll list the features I tried and didn't work (maybe they work for other people on HEN, maybe I was doing something wrong, but these were my results).
-Create Shortcut PKG didn't work for me
- Make ISO from folder game didn't work (stuck for literally hours without any progress)
- Changing fonts under settings crashed ManaGunz after going through around 10 different fonts.
- Mounting app_home didn't work (nor that I needed it, I was just curious)

If I remember any other features not working I'll add them to this post under an edit title.

I never tested this, I do not think this would work

You can poke lv2, at least webMAN MOD can do above things
- Ext. game data doesn't work ?
Not sure never tested, I do not see why this wouldn't work

Yes both COBRA & HEN do this on the fly, enabling BD Mirror only breaks the compatibility on HEN

if your managunz patches this permanently then this option should go away, COBRA & HEN patch modules on the fly and the original files remain.
- mount /app_home doesn't work ? also useless ?
You can boot games via app_home and 99% of HEN users do not know what this does and do not like to have this entry on Game Category on XMB
- Set primary usb ? I don't know... it use SYSCALL8_OPCODE_FAKE_STORAGE_EVENT .

I think you can leave it as is, both mmCM and webMAN/MOD support this option

Since some features are supported, I don't think you should remove everything

- It support PS3 iso, PS3 JB.
- It doesn't support PS2 iso.
Yes, for PS2, you could try what webMAN MOD does, it shadow copies PS2ISO.ENC file to the ps2classic launcher's path so you can mount encrypted ISO and play the game with ps2classic place holder (launcher)

- does it support PS1 iso ?
- does it support PSP iso ?

Yes,

Managunz (optionally) can patch explore_plugin.sprx and libfs.sprx if you enable this options it makes a copy of the original files ---> to managunz installation path, then the copy of the files are patched and renamed
Since that point the patched .sprx files stays as part of the managunz installation files, and incase you use that options to patch them again later (with different games) then managunz uses the files that are already patched

So... in some way is patching them "on the fly" too (but it does it only 1 time), and the originals are not modifyed
Not sure if this features related with patched explore_plugin.sprx and libfs.sprx works, we was thinking incase are broken maybe is because the resigning type... but doesnt looks like

Another thing that could be related with the resisgning type is... in the "Create shorcut PKG" it needs to resign an EBOOT.BIN (and build a PKG with it inside). Both looks fine, the PKG is debug as far i remember, and the EBOOT is resigned with the 4.21 keys... but dunno... if you can take a look at this @Joonie it could be handy just to verify there is no problem with that resignings

If Managunz redirects the pre-patched sprx files (explore&libfs) then they both have to be signed as 3.55.

However COBRA & HEN both patch these two modules to complete "BD-Mirror" on the fly, so manually patched by Managunz can cause compatibility issue if they are patched differently (multiMAN and IRIS manager patch these files differently)

I think you are confusing what I called BD-mirroir and the bdemu.
  • BD-Mirror : it patch the mount table in the lv2 to remplace the device dev_bdvd (or dev_ps2disk for internal) by the device where is stored the backup. This option works fine in extern only if there is only 1 device plugged. Also, it moves the game folder to the root. For example, /dev_hdd0/GAMES/MyBackup/PS3_GAME will be moved to /dev_hdd0/PS3_GAME then on the next boot of managunz it will be moved back.
  • BD-EMU : It redirect the path of the libfs.sprx to the path of a libfs patched.
patch for explore_plugin is to redirect app_home

I think cobra is using BDEMU by patching these modules 'on the fly', but it doesn't use BDMirroir.

BDMirroir was used long time ago. It's still available with multiMAN if you rename/remove the libfs files from his directory (it's called AIO.BIN i think).

Anyway, thanks.

PS :
Can I install from rebug 484C the OFW 484 to install HEN and then comeback to rebug just with the recovery menu(without flashing the nor) ?

this one ? https://mega.nz/#!zQQwXIIB!8KKPcY34Qjh-l9ZkYLax68FfuWM9D1VGFl26mD_NKk8
source : https://www.psx-place.com/threads/u...lash-tools-restored-for-4-84-ofw-users.23094/

To install HEN :
From rebug 4.84C : I go to recovery then I install 4.84 HFW
From 4.84 HFW : I go to the web browser then I go to this link http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)/hen/installer/ to install HEN
I install my homebrew from "install package" like in CFW ?

To go back to CFW :
From 4.84 HFW : I go to recovery then I install rebug 4.84

Is it all good ?
