PS3 ManaGunZ - PS3 Backup Manager by Zar v1.41

Hello @Zar. I have found a small bug in v1.37. In this update you added the option to create an iso directly from dev_bdvd (this itself is working fine), however it does not create the settings bin file in game_settings, causing you to freeze when trying to access the game menu or mount it. If you need any more info about this, I'd be more than happy to provide it :).

@Zar after further testing, I've discovered that this is only an issue on 4.86 (presumably because ManaGunZ doesn't support 4.86). I'm sure you already knew this, but in-case you didn't, I hope this helps you fix the problem.

Just chilling a bit...
The option to create a backup from managunz filemanager was nice, but is needed to make it available from the game selector screen, i mean, without need to enter in the filemanager
Game selector screen > Game setings > Make backup

But this involves displaying the ICON0.PNG (in the game selector screen) of the real optical disc inserted in the drive... together with all the other icons from backups
Im wondering if there is some code challengue to achieve this

In iris/man there is a setting to enable this (that requires a soft reboot of the PS3, and also requires to be disabled later to return to the normal behaviour)
I never understood the technical reason why iris/man does this... but i guess it was something needed at that time when estwald was implementing the feature

There is some wayaround to prevent that reboot of the PS3 ?... or any other alternatives to do it in a more intuitive way ?

Surely there must be. multiMAN can do this with seemingly no complications.

Please mention the game format, it could be important because the options that appears in the "Game settings" menu are different if the game is in JB/folder format or in ISO format

The bigger diference is the ISO format doesnt allows to select any special "mount mode", so you dont need to configure PS3 ISO settings
And as a consequence of this... the Managunz "game settings" availables for PS3 ISO format are not really related with how the game is "mounted" or "booted"
And as a consequence of this... the game_settings file (generated when you use the "game settings" menu) could be very different

I have the issue with JB and ISO format. But as I mentioned in a more recent post, I think it's because ManaGunZ doesn't support 4.86 yet.

ManaGunZ v1.37 freezes when loading a PS2 ISO when on ReBug 4.86.1. Have PS2 ISOs on an external NTFS USB drive, and was expecting ManaGunZ to copy the ISO to internal PS3 hdd, but it freezes. Just reporting this as someone did above. Thanks for your work, Zar!

Which version of Rebug you're using?
If it is 4.86.1... for now I also have this problem.
ManaGunZ was working with Rebug 4.85.1, not matter if it was v1.37 or previous version.

a few posts up Zar says there maybe an update at end of month. you can downgrade to rebug 4.85 lite or just wait it out. (if you want to downgrade you will need to enable qa flag if you havent already done so)

Probably at the end of the month, let's say 30 May 2020 ;)

I almost kept my ETA ;). It's updated for CFW 4.86C, it will fix most of the freeze issues reported lately...

The features I was working on, like dump BR, are disabled because I didn't finish yet.

https://github.com/Zarh/ManaGunZ/releases/latest

Changelog :
Add : Support CFW/HEN 4.86C.
Add FileManager : PictureViewer : support DDS, GTF, BMP, WEBP, TIFF, TGA, GIM and mores...
Fix FileManager : The scroll bar is now visible.
Fix : ManaGunZ won't set chinese language when the PS3 system is set with german language.
Removed : SHA-1 calculation from file properties.

Thanks for new version.
Finally I can try it on Rebug 4.86.1 LITE.
So far, so good.

How currently situations with covers looks like?
I mean, for quite long I was using e.g:
hdd0:/PS2ISO/Game.iso
hdd0:/PS2ISO/Game.png
tak-tak.png

I can't get it to work with ManaGunZ v1.38...
I do not have this problem with webMAN MOD 1.47.27.

Nice, new version :encouragement:

In my oppinion...
Is better to rename the covers following the format SLES_123.45.PNG (only). This way you can use any name for the ISO
And is better to store all the covers from all game formats together in the same folder, there are several paths availables but i use to store them in
dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/covers <---this path is inherited from iris, so irisman can share them and i guess webman too
dev_hdd0/games/MANAGUNZ0/USRDIR/covers <--- this is inside managunz intallation directory (and there is another folder specific for 3Dcovers, only used by managunz "FLOW 3D" interface)
