PS3 ManaGunZ v1.38 - 4.86 CFW (CEX) / HEN Support + Picture Viewer + several fixes from developer Zar

Following the previous update of ManaGunz, homebrew developer and creator @Zar of the project has updated the popular ps3 homebrew to version 1.38, this update provides full 4.86 support (CFW CEX + HEN). Also in this update an added feature for viewing pictures (PictureViewer) in various formats that include DDS / GTF / BMP / WEBP / TIFF / GIM / TGA and other's as well. This update also provides several fixes; now in the file manager within ManaGunZ the scroll bar is now visible, also a fix to a language bug has been provided. See all the changes in this latest update in a popular AIO homebrew manager. multiMAN and IRISMAN are great choices as well for the PS3 but ManaGunZ is a popular choice as well. All 3 apps give a very diiferent approach and unique experience and also exclusive features.

Developer @Zar still have plans for the project and some features in development did not make the cut in this version but could seen possiably in a future update as the developer states with this release here in the psx-place forums that " The features I was working on, like dump BR, are disabled because I didn't finish yet.". So that is something that hopefully we see from this hobbyist developer when time allows. Until then checkout what the developer has brought us in v1.38 below in the included changelog​

at the risk of sounding long winded,another thought.
i was unable to use any previous version of ManaGunz when i updated to 4.86 HFW,i just assumed it was because of the changes to cobra,or however HEN does the payload thing.i switched to multiman for a while as trying to mount(or even triangle settings)any game (ISO) instantly froze the console on any version of ManaGunZ prior to 1.38. multiman has not been updated since 4.86 HFW was released but was unaffected by the firmware update.
i know that something significant changed in 4.86 because PSP ISOs work first time every time now,it stalls on game boot if you have a USB device plugged in but always continues to load when you unplug.

 

Yeah, I'm aware of this.

multiMAN detection on firmware version is less strict than ManaGunZ detection. So, multiMAN do not detect 4.86 (I think it detect 4.76, look at system information). Anyway, as there is only small modification since 4.76, it's not breaking multiman functions.
ManaGunZ firmware detection do not recognize the firmware. So, lot of function are disabled, only 'generic' functions should be avaiblable... I probably forgot to disable something, that's why it froze. I have to fix before the next update.

I know it has been a while since I last posted, idk if it was solved already but, I even tried using older versions of ManaGunZ that worked before, like 1.35 & 1.36 (i'm on HEN) but they don't work now, if you try to mount a game it freezes the console entirely, if you try to see/adjust game specific settings (triangle) it freezes the console entirely too :c

 

Hello @Zar. I found a freezing issue in v1.38. I wanted to copy some game files to my PC, but the game is in iso format. To save conversation time, I used the file manager to mount the game. I then went to dev_bdvd and selected the files I wish to copy. When I then pressed triangle, my PS3 froze.

hmm...IDK Bro! Yeah not working for me. Maybe I will try and reinstall HFW/HEN again and see if it helps. If I do I'll post my results for troubleshooting purposes...

 

I have same issue since updating had to update from 4.86 to 4.87 due to corrupted hdd and formatting. Now trying to do things in Managunz immediately freezes. Hopefully fix is coming.

Yeah Developer Said it was in a long list of things to do. But plans on getting fix or update in the lineup. Mentioned they we're waiting for cfw 4.87 to come out B4 working on it. I believe there is a CFW 4.87 now, so maybe it's in the future....
