PS1 Modifying BIOS to transmit GameID, does it cause problems for standard memorycards?

So, it's possible to patch your BIOS so that it will transmit GameID information for devices like the Memory Card Pro to auto-switch virtual cards without requiring an ODE to be installed:

Though you would need to de-solder your BIOS chip and solder in a new one flashed with the patched BIOS (Or in my case, use that BIOS in a MiSTer with a SNAC adapter). I can't find much information on if this causes any issues with any games or if it can mess up saving/loading off of standard or any other memorycards that are not modern MicroSD multi-memorycard devices like the Memory Card Pro.

Has anyone here ever done this and tested it or knows if it causes any issues with standard cards or breaks any games?
