PS3 Movian M7 (by deank) - "libav" swapped for "ffmpeg" & slight name change

Developer @deank who has been continuing development of the (modded version) of the original media center that started on the PS3 (now runs on Android, Amazon Fire Stick, MacOS ,Windown ,Linux & Raspberry pi). The media center originally was named "Showtime" on the PS3 but later renamed to "Movian" by the original developer Andreas Oman years ago.

Since that time, we have not seen the official project do much in recent years (currently home site is down as of writing), but developer deank has been keeping the project alive and evolving (see changelogs over at brewology for all archived changes). One of the biggest changes you will see within Movian-M7 compared to older version, is the change from the older (abandoned) "libav" video decoders/parsers to the current "ffmpeg" that was just replaced in the recent M7 update . This should improve compatibility and make for a more up-to date and versatile media player for all supported platforms including the PS3.

Also, deank has made a quick stop in the forum's, then to see a reported issue and provided a fix (seen here) that is now present in v7.0.2

Does Movian supports subtitles with styles/fonts embedded into container (eg mkv)? Lot of animes are using builtin ass/ssa subs with fonts but i can't get them to work :/ It always display with default style and font.

The problem with the OpenSubtitle plugin is not because of Movian new version but because of their API (OpenSubtitle's) changed. I noticed there is a new beta plugin in Movian list, but it does not work for me. It works foy anyone here?
I´ve seen your post in another forum, how could you open the js file to repack the API key?

You are supposed to download the plugin either from your PS3 files, or use the one I shared here. I suggest taking your own downloaded plugin as it will guarantee you know how to place the file back into your PS3. However, there should be an easier way. Lets request for help in the forum

Online subs are not working again :(

the main developer is asking for support through PayPal to make this feature available
The plugin is working. You need to create an user in opensubtitles . com, type your user and password in the plugin option in Movian and maybe activate the API section in your user section the opensubtitles website. I said "maybe" because that's what I did. Other users mentioned it worked for them but I am not aware if they only created the user

Just wanted to Post my gratitude and THANKS towards Mr. deank , for all the PS3 work he's done. I cant see myself ever not using my PS3. and thanks to all the ______'s here also.
