PS3 Movian v4.10 (Latest Stable Build) by Andreas Oman

Following the recent call to translators, Developer and Creator Andreas Oman (aka Andoma) of the one the most developed and enjoyed PS3 Homebrew creations Movian (Recently renamed to Showtime), has been updated with the latest release of version 4.10. Now with all "Showtime" references removed and some [break]sss[/break]stablity to many of new features contained in latest Testing/Bleeding edge updates. All the details about this release and some insight on version 5.0 can be seen below.

Movian v4.10 (STABLE)

This release is mostly about stability and improvement of already present features. In particular the HLS streamer received a lot of love. Downloads are available here

New generic features

• Deprecated SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine is removed. New plugin engine Duktape (ecmascript) is updated
• Added magnet torrent links support
• Support browsing local network for Windows/Samba servers and also browsing shared folders on each server.
• Upgrade to libav 11

Vastly improved HLS demuxer

• More robust streaming of live content.
• Support for supplementary audio tracks (multiple languages, etc).
• Improved adaptive bitrate switching.

Raspberry Pi specific features

• Support for Raspberry Pi 2.
• Audio pass-thru over HDMI.
• Automatic deinterlacing of interlaced content.
• Automount and show USB drives on start page.

The future

• I will now start working on the 5.0 release which will focus on an updated user interface. Stay tuned... Have fun!

This version finally fixes the error I have had since the renaming where the PS3 would kick back to the XMB when playing the next file if say watching a TV series. Thanks so much for this can't wait for the big 5.0 release.

 

the .pkg name still reads showtime-4.10.3.pkg

I was speaking of the app ..

Also just an fyi to anyone:
I notice if you update from Showtime the XMB will still read Showtime for anyone who wants it to read Movian a simple PARAM.SFO edit will do it or download from website and not the app.

 

Plugin Moderator Leonid Protasov says that if Movian side xml format would be supported, we could see Youtube subtitle right now.
Required Movian target bulid would be v5.0......and then, project target build erased...OTL

@ STLcardsWS, Iprot is a plugin dev whom does a LOT of work with Andreas to make Movian what it is today. He also deserves credit & dev status for all of his many contributions to movian.

Edit: looks like 5.0 is just around the corner as I just update to 4.99.37

 

I suggest you to not switch to Bleeding Edge in settings as these time that branch will be very unstable/incompatible with current plugins etc. Before in earlier Movian versions I always suggested to switch to Bleeding Edge and check the found bug there. This has changed. Now Stable and Testing will be changed more often to eliminate found bugs/add languages etc. Use Stable/Testing until 5.0 arrives and all plugins are ported there. I know that will be a long way but better to wait then to use something that is not working...

4.10 is very stable as alot of work was put there to make it rock stable and I beleive we managed to do that. Enjoy!
