PS3 multiMAN Cover Pack v7.30

I dont get it, you mean to store the covers in /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/covers but not having multiman installed ? (so using a cover pack installed as gamedata ?)
You got the idea :) Indeed that is what the covers pack have been doing for years.
For instance, this is the compilation of covers that I did 4-6 years ago.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vhen5jwz59b26v2/EP0001-BLES80608_00-COVERS0000000000.pkg/file

I guess it could create some incompatibilities if at some point you want to uninstall multiman but not the covers, also if the cover pack has been installed as gamedata category GD then you try to install multiman on top as HG not sure what would happen
How many times have you deleted multiMAN? Anyway if you do it, it's a simple as re-install the covers :)

Anyway, even if it works is a bit twisted in my oppinion, i think is better to have the covers separatedly from all backup managers
In IRISMAN + webMAN MOD I also have the option for 5 paths not related to backup managers:
/dev_hdd0/GAMES/covers
/dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/covers
path of iso + .jpg / .png
online covers (e.g. default to DeViL303's server.... He is paying a lot of $$$$ for this hosting)
custom path (you use the path of your preference)

What @Berion is doing with THIS is the right idea. Standard location for CFW icons, so ALL packages can share them, this makes ALL packages smaller. It also means whole XMB, all mods and apps can be skinned in one place, so users can make theme packs easily. I will be using this for all my mods going forward.
The idea is bright, but IMHO it's a bit out of time...
1- PS3 is now obsolete (discontinued worldwide since May 2017)
2- There is almost no new homebrew / apps developments for PS3 (except for the new exploits)
3- The concept to work requires the adoption from developers
4- It has the problem that adds a dependency to an external folder (which can be installed or not)

lol, if i was you , i would tell everyone to piss off, and just pick one path, and say "use this or your covers wont work, simple as that" :D
:) yeah, but I try to find the covers where they typically can be found to reduce server traffic (if possible)

There are so many things like this that need to be standardized really. We could do it too.

For example, if the 5 main backup manager devs just got together, and said right, dev_hdd0/covers/ is new default place. Problem solved IMO. There will be a slight learning curve but so what. :) Everything can get simpler then going forward, so everyone wins in the long run.
Yep, but in uppercase (like PS3ISO, PS2ISO, etc) to difference them from the official folders :)
This is one of the things i was planning to suggest to @Zar for the next managunz version ;)
There is an option in the actual managunz v1.35 that allows to use a custom folder name to store game backups... i would like another option like that to scan covers from dev_hdd0/COVERS ;)
I think in the actual managunz there are a couple of functions that can be repurposed for it

One of the features is managunz allows to use any folder name to store the games, as example you could create a folder named dev_hdd0/MYGAMES and store some games on it, managunz will scan your custom path at boot and will find them, there is a setting to change the names in a user-friendly way
Another feature is it can identify the game types without using the folder names, as example you can copy a PS2 ISO inside PS3ISO and managunz will find it and will identify it correctly
And as far i remember managunz can load PS2 and PS1 game in JB format (lol, yeah i know this sounds shocking and i never verifyed it fully)... but as far i remember you can extract the contents of a PSX or PS2 ISO to files and managunz will find it... so it seems managunz can scan for games recursivelly (in the folder indicated, and all his subfolders)

So... in the same way managunz is allowing to use custom paths for games... it could have another option to use a custom path for covers, in my oppinion dev_hdd0/COVERS is fine for the default

Aand under COVERS the user could create more folders with any name, as example, personally i would like to use:
dev_hdd0/COVERS/PS3EURO
dev_hdd0/COVERS/PS2EURO
dev_hdd0/COVERS/PS1EURO
dev_hdd0/COVERS/PSPEURO
And so on...

As mentioned, the user should have an option to select the name "COVERS" or to replace it by a different custom name
The other folder names (in this example PS3EURO, PS2EURO, PS1EURO, PSPEURO) cant be selected in managunz because are going to be scanned anyway so the name doesnt matters

Actually, by doing this allows the user to choose any combination, you could do
dev_hdd0/MY_COVERS/ALL_TOGETHER_HERE

If the users copy/past the covers manually, it would be handy but it's not the case.
Every backup manager is managing the covers on its own. It download and install the covers. It's doesn't need the 'help' of the users. I don't think the covers path is important, if the users want to see covers then it will just ask the backup manager, show it ! Nothing else.

Edit :
For the users without internet a cover pack is a good alternative, everyone is already using the path of multiman, I agree with aldos, it's already the default path, because it's the 1st one.

Everytime i install a managunz version i use to delete the previous one, is something im used to do since lot of time ago to prevent posible errors in the config files as i was mentioning here
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/dumping-disc-via-hen.23907/#post-176645
So everytime i install a managunz version the next thing i need to do is to copy some covers to the managunz installation path :/

This is the problem i see now about the cover paths in managunz, so i was thinking in suggesting you to add another option to choose the path at dev_hdd0 root, in the same way you allow to choose custom folder names for game backups :)

Edit:
I dont have multiman installed
I dont want to install a cover PKG with thousand of covers, i just need a few for the games i have
I could build a gamedata PKG with my covers using the TITLE_ID of multiman, but this is a bit twisted and excesive, i prefer to simply copypaste the images
Copypasting more images to dev_hdd0/game in a unnofficial way is not a good idea because the database keeps a record of the "total size" of the gamedata installation, timestamps and other stuff that needs to be updated by official means (by using a PKG installer) so incase of using a gamedata cover pack and in the need of updating it is needed to do it with another gamedata cover pack in PKG format

I added a cover for Odin Sphere leifthrasir BLUS31601 260x300 in .jpg format to multiman covers. Using webMAN MOD 1.47.25 it doesn't show up. I made sure to name it BLUS31601 and to put it in dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/covers/. Refreshed xml, but still not showing up. all other covers I added shows just fine.

Edit: It doesn't show in sMAN either. All other covers show just fine, except this one.

I've been having trouble with this as well. I can make my own covers to show up in PS2 Classics Manager and I can make the covers show up on Webman, but MultiMan won't show the covers unless it downloaded them, it seems.

If anyone finds any missing covers, post them here or the content ID, and I will add them to the package. I guess it wont have any new games from the last year anyway, like sports games.

I guess i could make this a resource here too. Not sure.

Just Dance 2017 doesn't have a cover (only one out of my 40+ games that's missing a cover).

Other ideas for standardization include, standard extra queries in all category xmls for mods/addons, so XMB mods are compatible across all CFW. This has worked really well on HAN. This allows mods to stick after a FW reinstall. Loads of these things are simple to do... yet even getting CFW creators to add one query for XMBPD was impossible... :(

Hi
did someone created a pack of PSX-PS2 cover arts in pkg format to marry with the multiman/webman ?
Im working on re-installing webman mod and i never installed a custom cover art and I still try to understand why only 1/4 of my PS2 games have installed cover arts....

would be nice to have a pkg pack or a tools to help me having cover arts for my games.

currently waiting for your kind answer friends

Strings in code bbc is path in Dropbox to covers which You can use in WMM. Those big are for RetroArch etc. PS3 cannot handle them (to low memory) and stretching them to square, so that's why they needs to be resized and put on fixed size.

Also You must change file name to match Your disc image name and place it in "dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/". A lot of work if You have lot of games.

The same for PSX.

In addition, of course it is not a collection of all game covers, just only covers for IMO the best games. It is possible that some of Your games will be missing but in that case, You can make Your own, using proper template, Your cover and resize result to match WMM size.
