PS3 Multiman & PS1 Game Organization | Also Brewology

Hey everyone, I have a couple of questions:

1.) What happened to https://ps3.brewology.com/homebrew/? I can't access this website anymore, and I haven't been able to access it for at least the past several days. Is there a new location to download PS3 Homebrew?

2.) I'm trying to figure out why my PS1 games are so poorly organized when I open up the PS1 folder in the XMB menu. I have many PS1 titles loaded directly into my SSD, but for some reason some of them display a different title name than that of the actual folder they're housed in under the PSX root folder. Is there a fix for this?

I'll use Final Fantasy 8 as an example, but what's interesting is Final Fantasy 7, 9 and Tactics all load in correct alphabetical order, and don't have [Final Fantasy 8] labeled out in the square brackets.

Here's how they look in FileZilla under the PSX root folder:

And here's how they look in the XMB menu:

Brewology is down.... I'm not sure if it's due an DOS attack, maintainance or if the site was shutdown. I don't have that information.
UPDATE: Brewology is online again.

The games in webMAN MOD are sorted by the first 6 letters of the title / file name. This is due a memory limitation and the way the files are cached in memory to create the XML.

webMAN MOD uses some hacks to improve the sort order using only 6 bytes. That includes get the number after CD, Vol or Disc, use the first letters for the first word and second words, ignore some prefixes like [PS1], [SCES-12345], etc.

The subdirectories add extra bytes to the file name that reduce the sort efficiency.

But it only chooses to do this for some games? Final Fantasy 7 and 9 are inserted into my console using the same method but webMAN MOD doesn't try to adjust the name of the game's title. Do you or anyone in here have suggestions for updating the organization? It'll help cure my OCD. Lol.

The easiest way to force the organization is rename the folder or file name of the games using a prefix code of 6 letters+numbers or less, followed by the full name. If possible put all the games in the PSXISO to avoid folder in brackets.

Example:
FF7.1 Final Fantasy 7.BIN
FF7.2 Final Fantasy 7.BIN
FF7.3 Final Fantasy 7.BIN

or
F700 Final Fantasy 8 Disc 1.BIN
F701 Final Fantasy 8 Disc 2.BIN
F702 Final Fantasy 8 Disc 3.BIN
F800 Final Fantasy 8 Disc 1.BIN
F801 Final Fantasy 8 Disc 2.BIN
F802 Final Fantasy 8 Disc 3.BIN
F900 Final Fantasy 9 Disc 1.BIN
F901 Final Fantasy 9 Disc 2.BIN
F902 Final Fantasy 9 Disc 3.BIN

Separate question regarding something I've noticed today...

I have a CECH-H fat PS3 with CFW. For some reason, starting today, the fan has been so loud. When I go to CUSTOM FIRMWARE TOOLS and check the fan speed, it's at like 80%. If I reboot the console it'll be quiet for 5 seconds but then gradually increase the fan speed at a rate of 1% per second.

I try to go into the Fan Tools and setting it manually to something like 40%, but it'll revert itself to 80% almost instantly.

As I'm typing this funny enough it's gradually decreasing in speed. Anyone know know what's going on?

If the fan speed is increasing gradually is because the CPU/RSX sensors are reading a temperature higher than the target temperature specified for the dynamic fan controller. Once the temperature is lower than the target temperature, the fan speed will decrease gradually.

e.g. If your target temperature is set to 60°C or lower and your console is in a warm room without much ventilation, the normal operating temperature will be over 65°C. The fan controller will try desperately to decrease those +5 degrees increasing the fan to the maximum 80% and making a lot of noise in the process. In this scenario it is possible that the console never reach 60°C and the fan stay at 80%.

I recommend you that check the settings in /setup.ps3. Maybe increase a target temperature to 70°C, reduce the maximum fan speed to 60% and keep monitoring the temperature. If that doesn't help, it may be a hardware issue and you may need to repaste your chips.
