Hi

Inside Multiman , when you copy/rip disc into folder on a External HDD
the option are :

---COPY
---DELETE
---RENAME
---UPDATE
---TEST
---PERMISSIONS

TEST option description mention it check "...if game contains split (.666##) files

I just copied MASS EFFECT 3 from my boxset BLUS 41000 and I seen that at the end of the process i remember having seen .666 file at the bottom of all the lines

What do it mean ?
it is that important ? why multiman want to detect thoses specific files and why ?
do its a signe that the game should not work properly once ripped in on folder on a external FAT32 HDD ??

When copying a backup to USB with multiMAN (and other homebrew managers I believe), any files larger than 4GB are split due to the file size limit of FAT32. The .666 files are split files which can be rejoined either on NTFS or on the PS3's HDD.

You can rejoin them using multiMAN with the file manager or using PS3 Tools Collection on PC. Copy to NTFS and then either mount from there or copy it from NTFS to dev_hdd0 and mount from there.

Regarding Split games on fat32 .
That is older method essentially: That is for folder format (aka JB format) split games.. They would need to be merged and such to be played.

ISO SPLIT GAMES (via cobra or mamba support) is 1,000,000,000 times better :).
They act and behave just like a normal iso would (no extra steps or merging required), just has 4gb parts is the only difference., but as said no merging or special requirements needed.

I just tested Call of duty Black Ops who have the split files
one thing i dont understand is , when tested via MULTIMAN upon copy process , it actually show the number of split files already on the untouched disc , so they already exist in spli inside the physical disc prior to copy process ??

Im lost ....

what the BEST option to play games without having to pull my hair with two hands , EXTERNALLY i mean...

FAT32 External HDD ?
NTFS External HDD ?

Folder or ISO ?

I think the best is (because of the Split ISO support)

FAT32 External HDD
- Cobra CFW
- Create an ISO (when multiMAN (mmCM mode) creates an ISO it will split if it needs to be split).
Then it will play just like an unsplited ISO no extra steps.

....its a never ending quest lol i have 63 games copied in backup to my 1.5TB in Fat32 format and i think i will have to restart the whole process differently with what you tell me... :(

QUESTION for you STLcardsWS :
Considering my console is CFW COBRA REBUG 4.84...

(1) I just tried Call of duty Black Ops (have split "red" on multiman) , it made its game update correctly , i started the game correctly , it play normally .... do this "split files" thing MEAN that at some time during the game BAM the game will freeze or stop working ? I will never be able to reach the ending generic if the folder with split game stay like that on my external USB FAT32 HDD ?

(2) Im a complete old buck newbie that try desesperately to understand...
do you mean that you suggest me to instead FORMAT my HDD in NTSF to have all my backup games in ISO format and only install one internally and stuck with it until i finish it , once completed , erase it and go to the next etc ect ?
...I wanted a portative library on wich i could pick up whatever the one i feel to play with without doing all theses manipulation. did i understand correctly or you want o explain that i can have ALL my ISO split on an external FAT32 HDD ???

Ahhhhh....ok....
damn

I filled HALF my 1.5TB external FAT32
....did you think that ONCE i will fill it , I will be able to take my 2th Spare 1.5TB , Format it in FAT32

(1) plug BOTH of them inside the slim console using the two USB port (one filled , the other empty)
(2) transfer/copy FORMAT version into ISO versio toward the 2th Empty 1.5TB Fat 32
(3) ....once the FAT32 filled with ISO ones , I will Format my 1st 1.5TB completely , plug them both on my laptop and copy/paste toward my 1st 1.5TB (empty)
(4) once i will have both 1.5TB filled , it will be more safe & secure (1,000,000,000 times better to quote you) ?

Ahhh Man your so right about that!
People should mention that PS3 Converted ISO REALLY take less place than Folder Version and are 1,000,0000,000 Times More Compatible !!
I experienced it with L.A. Noire and GOD OF WAR Ascension (43 Go in Folder , 23 in ISO) Damn LOL
NOWWW I will be able to have enought place on my 1.5TB knowing that !!
Thanks Friend
