PS3 Multiman Vs Pc disk drive

Hey, i just recently learned about emulating the ps2 and ps3 on my PC. The only reason I would want a cfw ps3 at this point is so i can rip my own games, but ive also read that trying to rip a game through a disk drive on PC is inferior than using a title manager on a cfw ps3. Given that bgtoolset is down, im wondering what my best option would be, invest in a disk drive or just continue waiting?

What firmware is your system on currently?
If 4.85 or lower, the self host method still works for jailbreaking allowing you to run CFW.
I just did this last night with a CECHB00 that was on 4.70

4.89 :/ lol. I started looking for a ps3 i could buy with older firmware but it seems like a waste

Ive been looking into it more and it seems i can downgrade my ps3 to get at least 4.85 but i sont know how to do that method. Would you be able to point me in the direction for that?

Not "worst" but in encrypted form. Since RPCS3 emulator doesn't emulate ODD in way it should, You need decrypting it after that (keys can be read but only on PS3, however people sharing them).

And not a "title manager" but "backup manager".

You cannot downgrade without QA flag which You cannot set on HEN. CFW only feature.
