multiMAN Web Services could be discontinued in 2019 (developer seeking support)

Developer @deank needs a little help, so he can help us all. The legendary dev known for various projects like the iconic multiMAN / webMAN & SMAN for the PS3 needs some help to keep multiMAN's web services going strong into 2021. To accomplish this goal the developer is seeking 500 Euro's in donations. The good news is deank is almost at 50% with his goal (as of writing this (12/16)). The bad news we only have a couple of weeks to meet that mark. Which in all honesty, should not be that big of an issue and very easy to accomplish.   Although multiMAN is now 9 years old, there is a huge number of consoles connecting to the website to download covers, game updates, multiMAN themes and applications from the WEB column. The generated traffic is enourmous and if the goal is not reached until the end of the year all web services will be discontinued. Have in mind that no free (or even paid) hosting services provide such quotas (330-360 GB / month) at reasonable price.

Bitcoin is perfect for donations. If he posted his address, I could easily shoot some to him.

No argument there, it would be handy for you, bitcoin is perfect for donations from people who already have bitcoin ready to spend. But that would be a tiny minority of multiman users I would imagine.. All I meant was that for the majority who don't already have btc or even a wallet because they are simply not interested in crypto currency whatsoever, it would be additional hassle & overall more costly than a free euro transfer.

 

Multiman my best file manager, I would release and post a small update that has a link in the menu of Multiman for a donation purpose to support and i think it will reach all the users when they update and know the situation but i don't know if it works or legal

Over 650 euros & I don't think the list is complete as I don't see my own donation in it yet for instance.
Let's hope it reaches at least 1k, it would cut the crap & give deank some well deserved breathing room...

I agree totally with you! I didn't mean to imply that he should post ONLY a bitcoin address... And I guess re-reading the way I said it, I pretty much did! What I meant to say was -- Can you please put up a bitcoin address in addition to banks, lol... It would be much easier for some of us to use bitcoin for this.

1. The PayPal.me page should still be working, you can donate at any time afaik.

2. Donations are in euros but the PayPal UI should tell you the exact amount in dollars & if ever there is a conversion fee for you to pay it shouldn't be more than a couple of bucks iirc.

Its not needed at all he has said this a few times.Its only needed to display the right firmware (cosmetic) So its not important at all especially in asking in this way to be honest.

I am sure deank has to setup his environment and it might be a task his is not willing to do for such a minor meaningless update. If there was a functionality issue deank has always been there. However this is not really needed at all. All you have to is click his profile and read his messages about this..

I apologize, I think I was misinterpreted
I wanted to say only if it was possible to upgrade to newer CFW 4.84 for continuity with our longing multiman and sman.

 

Maybe @deank could make a new version that doesn't need web services or optional / only on demand, to lower the bandwith usage. Covers could be downloaded in a package already I think.
Also the version number could be a simple text file, easy to add the new firmware versions. This way no need to ask for a fix everytime if it already works properly
