PS3 Multiple issues on CFW 4.82 Rebug and 2 questions (help please)

Please be patient with me and I'm sorry for so much explanation. I'm trying to make this with the least words possible, and don't want to mess up my ps3 even further.

I'm on Rebug CFW 4.82 REX CEX with 12.82 GB Free HDD space and with Firmware mode "Cobra 7.55 compatible".
I use PSN patch with the webman/psn patch plugins, Webman mod, and SEN Enabler.

First
issue: PS3 freezes little by little and then entirely when trying to interact with the "Friends" category on the main XMB and in the XMB overlay. Can't even check my messages because it freezes (doesn't even load my messages) and when I recieve a message It freezes the video and audio for splitseconds every 2 seconds or so until the notification on the top right goes away, but it doesn't even show the notification either, even when notifications are "on". No solution so far.

Second issue: When I successfully mount my backup game folder of "Dark Souls" that is in the dev_hdd0/GAMES/ folder, I press R2 + Triangle on my controller and the syscalls and cfw history are removed and CFW/Homebrew (like Irisman/multiman) disabled. I log in to PSN in the XMB before running the game. Everything's fine until this point. I run the game, and the console freezes before it tries to run it.

Note: For the second issue, I could remove syscalls and history + disable homebrew/CFW after the game was mounted and log in to PSN, and finally running the game without problems. Not anymore for some reason (maybe because of continued power outages and my ps3 was "on" and also booting up sometimes, one happened mid-game of a PvP fight in the "Dark Souls" game). I can Only play Dark Souls online when I don't press R2 + Triangle after mounting it, instead it works until I had the game running and pressed R2 + Triangle in-game , and logged in with XMB overlay (haven't tried with other games).

Third issue: Almost every time I restart or normally power off my ps3 and turn it back on after some time, the PS3 forces me to restore the file system, saying it is "corrupted". This has happened about 10 times already in the lapse of 2 days. Keeps happening as of now, and that's why I'm posting this.

Note for all 3 issues: These only started after constant power outages and having my ps3 on. I can play what I have, but with these issues and with my stated "temporal" solutions.
---------------

Questions:
1. How do I fix all this? I suppose I have to reinstall several things or just the CFW.
2. Do I update to Rebug 4.84.2 CFW? Does it still have to press R2+Triangle to log in to PSN on Rebug 4.84.2?

This will have more to do with the fact you have had power cuts when you PS3 is on than REBUG CFW, I still use 4.82.2 on one of my PS3s and don't get issue like this.

If I do get issue its more to do with multiple crashes I caused the PS3 when experimanting with things. Similar to your "power cuts" in a sort of way/ In these case's what I do is reinstall REBUG 2 times in a row followed br a Rebuild Data base, the re-install every homebrew and any issues dissappears and make sure anything that may have been corrupted by the constant crashes has I fresh install. Its a bit of a pain to do all this but it seems to work for me at least.

In you case though some thing may have been damaged due to the abrupt hard shutdown of the PS3 casued by the power cuts, its quite possible as well that its corrupted files. Have you tried re-installing the FW?

if ps3 forces you to rebuild database rhat frequently either you are shutting the system wrong or your hdd is starting to die,or combination of both.

Yikes seems harsh to do that but I think Im going to hold on for a professional response, no offense and thank you!!! Is there a shorter way?

I haven't, but afraid to try because I don't remember which exact version of all the ones available for "4.82 REX Rebug" I downloaded, don't want to mess things up even more than they are right now. Your process seems safe but way too long and I still could mess up if I dont follow exact instructions because I haven't tried rebuilding database or reinstalled CFW before.

First I would update your CFW this makes logging in easier since we are in 4.84 not 4.82 and I feel it's safer to use current firmware over a spoof. Everything works the same and it might fix your issues with just that. And remove your file corruption issues. What concerns me is when power goes out like that can cause issues with the HDD as it's terrible for your hardware and can make it go bad. First try updating your firmware so we have a clean basis to start from. Rebuilding your database is also a good idea. Kinda of annoying but better then having issues like you say.

Thank you so much for your response!
Just to be clear, what I have to do in order is:
1. Update to 4.84 (OFW).
2.Rebuild Database.
3. Install CFW 4.84.2 Rebug?

once jailbroken you never have to go back to OFW.you can simply flash any cfw from the same OFW or greater and if you QA flag your console you can flash any cfw you want.

No offense taken, but as as former games dev, your playing games I helped make, I am used to things like this... so it is professional advice, but might not be the right course of action for your case.

This is just what I do.... a simple CFW re-install may solve it as abrupt power cuts and shutdowns can corrupt things, not just on PS3's but any type of computer.

Thank you so much for your response!

Just install REBUG 4.84.2 REX, NOT 4.84 OFW or you will lose the jailbreak as the patched CoreOS files will be overwritten by the non-patched OFW versions.

If you do this you will have to xploit the PS3 again to re-install CFW.

mmm @Cypher_CG89 do you know why my ps3 isn't running like normal anymore, or @atreyu187 , I just downloaded Rebug 4.84.2 cfw REX and tried installing it on my ps3 via external storage and as soon as it finished moving the file to the ps3, the screen turned black and the ps3 started doing nothing at all. I left it as it was for 30 minutes, and nothing was going on... So I held down the power button until it turned off completely and turned it back on. The fan speed that I set with webman was still there, the storage LED on the front of the ps3 was flashing for 3 seconds or so and it stopped entirely, and the TV didn't show anything. I tried turning it off again via holding down the power button because just pressing it once wasnt doing anything at all, and so I restarted it and nothing, repeated this 5 times, same thing. I unplugged my console after the fifth failure, and so I plugged and turned on the ps3, the fan wasn't going at the speed I set it before... And I left it like that for 10 minutes. It still flashes the LED for 3 seconds but that's it. The ps3 got really hot, and I turned it off. What do I do? I know this is bad. I just want to know how to fix it if possible.

There a basic set of steps to do basically.

1. Check if its the frimware or apps are not corrupted or anything basic. Do a FW reinstall or app reinstall or both....

If problem still persists...

2. Check HDD... the same type of coruption can occure on PS3's the same as PC for repeated crashes and hard shutdowns> Check HDD on PC with sometime like Cystal disk info or simlar app that can check the heal of HDD's. either way an HDD format would be best to try and erase any corruption on the sectors.

If its still persists...

3. Try another HDD... The other HDD could be dammaged beyound repair dew to repated crashes and power cuts to it or has sevierlly degraded the HDD.

If it still persist then your looking at some other type of Hardware damage which is not a good sign.

All I have is a black screen, no sounds, no bootup ps3 screen, no lights, no users, no anything. It's the same as if it was turned off.

Is it okay to use the recovery menu/safe menu to install cfw?

yes u can use recovery but use 4.84.2 if using rebug. older versions had a problem installing from recovery on some consoles

You sure about this? I can just install Rebug 4.84.2 REX from recovery mode?!? Doesn't that sound risky
You can, but is that won't help much. Looks like your HDD is in bad shape, and probably only changing it will help for your issues. I suggest to at least check it's health on PC (read before, that can remove all data from ps3 hdd).

Do I have to take out the HDD, or connect it through internet or something? If I do have to take out the HDD, do I need an adapter cable for it?

You need to connect it thru sata to PC (best directly, can also by usb adapter). Remember that initializing your ps3 HDD on windows overwrite first sector, and you will be forced to format it on ps3 later.

just don't initialize it on the windows based pc (it will most probably prompt you to do so,just skip).you can check hdd health in all better diagnostics software like hdd sentinel.post the results here and we will instruct you on futher appropriate steps.
