PS3 Multiple issues on CFW 4.82 Rebug and 2 questions (help please)

When you turn on you ps3, are you able to hear some kind of noise? Something like a "click"?
Just checked the answers, and the "chosen solution" is BS. It says to get a new hardrive if I don't have that clicking noise on my hardrive, and I don't have that clicking noise.
Another answer suggests to follow a kid's video he refers to and to skip to a certain part of it, but it doesn't even show a link to it. It sounds like his solution was to clean something about the hardware and the software, but no clear answers there.
Something I did notice and sounds true to what happened to me (most likely, not completely sure), he said that I can't access Recovery mode because I had the system's HDD kinda full, I had 7400+ MB left of storage and this is exactly what he said:
"we're going to clean your soft, because I guarantee this happened just after you overloaded your system storage with a game/app/file that was just short of the storage line." And this might be true because I tried to install an update to CFW 4.84.2 and it obviously had to move it to the storage to install it (from the USB to HDD) but I kinda doubt it because the update.pup was about 120+ MB...

I believe the update pup is copied to dev_hdd1, which you normally don't have access to, so a full hdd shouldn't matter. dev_hdd1 is a 2GB cache on the internal hdd.

Thanks for the info! Then I'm out of ideas... Maybe just repairing the HDD on a PC should do it just fine. Until the day I can go fix it...

maybe a power surge? this happened to me with two external hdds and the ps3. one now tries to draw too much power; the other not enough, so they're both dead.

It definetily has to do with power, because this problem started when there was a power outage and my console was on. This happened multiple times on startup and while loading a backup too...

Not sure if is going to allow you to enter recovery mode without an hdd
Btw, what they have said is right, your PS3 is fine (good news) because you can see the error message when you boot without hdd

The next thing you need to decide is if you want to try to recover the files from that hdd, for that you need the EID root key + a PC
This could allow to recover some files incase the PC program is able to access the filesystem... but the recovered files could be corrupt, so incase of recovering file from a damaged hdd like this i suggest to do it ONLY with worthy files... thats savegames mostly (and trophies incase you are not connected online), but thats all... dont try to recover games or stuff like that because are big files and the probability of them to be corrupted is higher (and is going to be lot harder to know which ones are corrupted)

The next decission you need to take is if you are going to run some scan tests in that hdd to try to continue using it.... or you are going to replace it by a new hdd

The scans are good to do anyway, because maybe the hdd is fine. What you have damaged is the filesystems (thats for sure), but the hdd is unknown
But you need a PC for that... you mentioned you have an "all-in-one" computer... not sure what is that o_O can you mention the brand-model ?... it runs windows ?, and it have a SATA hdd ?

You could do it with a laptop/netbook, you need to remove the hdd (with windows installed), and connect the PS3 hdd, then you need to boot from a "liveCD" (or liveUSB) as @"Chaos Husky" mentioned
There are some ISOs freely availables with hdd tools... my favourite is MHDD btw

Basically, you need to do a "surface scan"... it takes lot of time, it reads the data from all sectors and messures the times needed to read that data... then it shows a checkered pattern and some counters where you can see if how many sectors you have with problems and his exact positions
If you pass that "surface scan" test and it reports 0 critical problems... it means your hdd is perfect
