PS2 [MX4SIO/SIO2SD] SD Card Adapter and SD-driver for the PS2 SIO2 interface

Looks like the version made by @AngryHelder (PS2 - MC2SIO), i just saw it on Youtube also, the video has 43,000+ views (as of writting this). Is that you in the video @AngryHelder ? Either way, nice presentation. :cool2:
It is my product but that is not me in the video, it's my friend Tito. I have also sent one of these to Mr.Mario so more eyes will be on this soon. Might have people help in testing things out and filling that Spread Sheet.

I don't have all resources yet to create my batch of PCBs and cases, but I am slowly building stock by hand the DIY way for my subs. I haven't been this excited about a project in a long time, cheers to mx4sio team!

That Youtube MC2SIO / MX4SIO video, by the friend of @AngryHelder (Tito) has almost 90,000 views in only 2 days!! Wow that's impressive... hopefully Mr.Mario will review his one soon too! :very drunk:

EDIT: @AngryHelder ...bro seeing as i gave you that MC2SIO brand name, and your version is getting alot of attention right now, can i give you my PayPal so i can collect the royalties? :-p;)

I would hope for all of them to point to the MX4SIO thread/project, like he did in his video.
I'm the one who passed the info to Tito the video maker about the thread and spreadsheet and this has been on my site since day one so people can come here from either source so people can easily find the source of the project.

I'm sure I can give you a few of these if you want for compensation and even mark your name on your shell for some Personalization. :encouragement:

Question for the group - I noticed my slim 90001 slot 2 will not recognize my Offcial ps1 or ps2 mem cards. Slot 1 is fine. But slot 2 does work when it recognizes my mx4sio compatible card.

So not sure if my slot 2 is really messed up or what.

I'm just joking with you bro :D

Was slot 2 working before? Have you tried cleaning the MC contacts with isopropyl alcohol? Also, with the PS2 un-plugged from the power wall socket, soak one of your MC contacts with isopropyl alcohol then push it into Slot 2 and take it out again, over and over a few times, re-wetting the MC contacts with more isopropyl alcohol if needed. This should help to clean the MC receiving contacts inside the PS2. Then wait until it has fully dried (good few minutes) and test to see if it works.

I will try that and also maybe lift slot 2 contacts a little bit to get better read from the memory card with extra pressure.

I got the ps2 used long time ago so not sure if slot 2 ever worked like it was supposed so, or if mx4sio was a coincidence and screwed it up.

Can someone shows the second led circuit?

The ones in Red are the ones used in the official schematic, a little overkill in my opinion.

Agreed that the FETs used in the original design are way overkill.

I have a batch based on this that use a standard, cheap npn transistor instead.

I'm going to pick up a few of these.

as for SD card compatibility: I've been reading up on a lot of the possible options and it appears that a 10K pullup resistor is what the spec demands.

Forgive me, but what's "clever" about taking the files + documents from this thread, and soldering a MicroSD connector to a PCB? Look out E=MC2, AliExpress sellers are getting..."clever".

If pretty much every SD, or MicroSD card works on MX4SIO, apart from SanDisk, then why the need for a 10K pull-up resistor? Also that 10K pull-up was already tried, to fix the SanDisk compatibility issue and SanDisk still doesn't work even with the 10k pull-up resistor.

Why buy anything like this project from AliExpress sellers, what contributions have they made here?? Apart from just taking / stealing, and now you are going to (A) advertize for that here, and (B) going to support it with your money. Well no offense, but you suck, how's that?

Just go buy your cheap, tacky knock-offs without the advert here, thanks. Unless you are somehow part of that company?

I mean they still need to find this topic and figure out English or how to use a translator XD

Maybe you misinterpret things a little. You all said everyone needs to build their own adapter or rely on a very limited supply from other users. If you buy from aliexpress then at least more people can have it and test it

Well, that last guy (@indrora) uses his very first post here to link / plug a shameless advert selling boot-leg versions of MX4SIO, and telling us how "clever" the AliExpress seller is. It just rubs me up the wrong way, that's all.

Did we see that guy's (@indrora) DIY MX4SIO version? No. Did he do any game testing? No. He just turns up with a link where to buy a boot-leg version from AliExpress. Just seems like a plug / spam / advert to me. Or just maybe some people don't understand how they come off to others.

So many thanks @indrora for your contribution, now i know the web address to AliExpress. I have been searching for it for years but just could never find it, and thanks to your amazing efforts - the search is finally over.

Maybe you are right or maybe you accuse a wrong person. This is probably unverifiable

Yeah for sure, i'm just saying how it came across. Probably @indrora had good intentions. Maybe he thought he was doing everyone a favour here by posting a link to AliExpress and that MX4SIO boot-leg advert. However, I'm not sure every creator of a product over the last few years would agree. In fact, i know of a few creators that complain when their designs and products get stolen for massive commercial production and sales from China. All their work and efforts ruined.

But the customer, what do they care about devs and creators, they just want the product now. And hey it's not the customers fault if the guy who invented the product isn't fast enough or cheap enough (sarcasm).

EDIT: Anyways, i'm not going to say anymore, otherwise i might get in trouble with the Mods for spamming the pages with off-topic stuff / my personal opinion. If the devs here don't mind, then who am i to complain. I just like to make myself look stupid lol.

Looking for advice to salvage 2 MX4SIO pcb's. As mentioned in an older post I bought a batch of 5 pcb's and botched the job on 2 of them unfortunately. Long story short there was a short (due to my bad soldering skills) on the micro sd and tried to remove them afterwards, some of the pads came off. I am thinking to reuse the board with full size SD slot and its respective BOM.
I checked with the multimeter and did not find any shorts on the traces so I assume it is safe to proceed?
