PS3 My CECHB-01 Teensy++ "Stealth"

Loathsome Dung Eater
So I bought a CECHB-01 not long ago as I have always loved them with the sleek all black look. Well Since I tinker with my dev_flash alot and NAND's aren't as easy to recover from a semi-brick like slims I had @Citrus3000psi perma install a teensy++ for me. He did it keeping the entire thing hidden with a passive connection. I only have to plug into USB007 and an external 3.3v PSU to activate the NAND flasher for recovery. Here is pics of his work and I thought I would share. He does AMAZING work and you will be hard pressed to beat his quality and best of all prices.

Work done

Teensy++ Passive "Stealth" install with no need to remove case to access/use NAND flasher
19 Blade fan
ZSSR 5391A PSU swapped out for the much cooler and lower power consumption APS-226
Seagate (ST1000LM014) 1TB Gaming SSHD SATA 8GB NAND SATA 6Gb/s 2.5-Inch swapped for the original 5400RPM 20gb HDD
NEC Tokin caps replaced

Here are temps after 6 hour gaming session running webMAN MOD fan speed @ 33%

Teensy++ is "activated" by simply using this setup. Once USB is plugged into port furthest away from the BD drive I take the Y-USB cable and plug one into the PC and one into the external PSU for power. Keeping it 100% stealth and no need to remove cover if needed.

And what the "Black Beauty" looks like as it is virtually 100% MINT and was acquired at a lower then 3.41 firmware. Thermal paste was still wet and not dried up upon first opening the system.

I am super happy with the work and the way it operates keeping it out of my child's hands as they get curious. Luckily I also have PSNPatch and PS3Lock plugins. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

Nice :) Temps like in CECH-200X! And very clean and very creative, specially that usb. Last thing you can add is a wi-fi, but is not needed if not using.

No you can't add those items as he already attempted to do that for me. While it fits the system will not recognize the hardware. And since I don't use WiFi anyhow I am not missing anything. He offered to put the guts of a working CECHA-01 in there to keep the black case I desired for this but I wanted the original hardware for the simple fact of it not having hardly any use on the system.

EDIT

Here is where he tried to do so but no success. The PS3 still under settings only shows LAN connection.

You probably can, but you need to change eight byte of IDPS from 02 to 01 and then update firmware in FSM. Anyway if you are not using it then is ok.

Wouldn't hurt to try so thanks for the tip I'll look into getting one and reporting back just for sale of it being documented as successful as everyone else has had ZERO luck.

Edit

Seems you are right as I dumped the IDPS and loaded the modified one and low and behold the wireless setting appeared but get an error for missing hardware.

Now you need a cwi-001 board with wifi from CECH-A. Or you already have one installed?

Getting one from the modder for $5 so soon enough. The card reader wouldn't be so easy as there is hardware on the board itself missing. Besides it would have to have chrome trim them which is the whole reason I got this model to avoid that ugly eye sight. Simply LOVE the B-01 model. He had an A-01 but not nearly as pristine and light use. Still can't get over the temps as it's better then my CECH-2501A model by two degrees under same stress test.

I'm really curious that wifi is possible, everyone is talking about mising hardwwre on motherboard but i can't find any comprasion pics with tha missing hw. Hope you will get it work :)

Nice work!
As for it getting wifi, I believe there are some missing components near the ribbon connector on the motherboard that will also need to be soldered on..I'll look for a B01 board in my pile later to confirm. :)

I also did something similar to Joonie 's E01 with a permanent dual teensy install. That was fun[emoji14]uploadfromtaptalk1460323651579.jpguploadfromtaptalk1460323713117.jpg

The parts that need to be soldered on is the parts for the multi card reader I am told. He has systems to try this out on and the ability to do what needs to be done. He was having issues with FW is what held him back I believe is what he said, but he thinks the wifi chould be plung in play.

Not just for the card reader, there are components for the bt/wifi that are missing too.
This is from A01

I added the missing SMD on my B00, I have an A00 donor board but I don't have a programmer to extract the IPSD, can I temporarily enable the WLAN option through REBUG's toolbox?
