modded-heatsink2.jpg
these I still have left from my cechl cooler moddings. still thinking about to replace original heatsinks with them.
my-debugging-setup.jpg
some weird debugging setup of mine. left is my cechl in a desktop shell and next to it the decr on her throne. on the right is my pc btw ;)
I am fighting with myself atm, to solder the linker in, but I am frightened. Still don't want to "undress" her and look under her cloths

oh and once again some kind words to the ex-owner of it. sorry me for my doubts and impatience
also many thanks to you @Yugonibblit, @M4j0r and of course you @sandungas

jup, a DECR-1400A in perfect & sealed condition. on saturday I probably get my internet and then I'll post some pictures. I have to admit, I have fallen in love with her, even I only had eyes for the 1000A before

this black front does look so awesome to me

btw, it seems this even came from german game studio, but I won't tell more about it

@Joonie
can you send me that special decr rebug with dex kernel? I will try to make my own 4.21 rebug decr version (btw, 4.21 because of trophies in game cat. codeunique I do not need anymore, since artemis is much better and open source)

I have been looking at a few DECR consoles I have always wanted one just to have one I guess. I had cash ready to buy a ps4 testkit off ebay. But after a couple days all 3 ps4 testkit consoles went unlisted and were no where to be found.

I had this feeling all the years and now I've just took my chance. I am also no developer and just modding things. but for that I am doing quite well I think. if I only would be faster at some things

damn smart phone. I have to stop posting now. this kills my nerves :(

uploaded some pictures. still thinking about soldering linker and replacing heatsinks, but I am not sure about it. I just let her stay "virgin" some time

if you cannot read it, the sticker says duty hours with a value of 6429. will check this of course with wMM

and yes I am a weirdo...some might think

I'm glad to hear you got one man. One of these days I'll grab one eventually. I'm kind of torn between the 1000 and the 1400. I like the idea of double the ram

supposedly, you can play gears of war (I think part 3) with it. a beta build was hacked from epic games website iirc a long time ago, so someone was able to put it on the ps3. it only works with one of these systems (not retail), because it needs more ram than the ps3 can provide. the ps3 and 360 have the same amount of ram, but the 360 allows for shared ram on the os side, which is why it works on that system but not the ps3.

Awesome to see someone else got a DECR-1400a as well! Lovely pieces of kit and quiet babies. I love mine to death since I got it on December 31st :excitement: Had some leftover content from previous studios coming from Europe! Already dumped the HDD.

Not sure why you would replace the heaksinks, the model used in the DECR-1400A is the same model used in the DECHA00A. It already keeps the console extremely cool even at low fan speeds since it's only using 65nm chips instead of 90nm.
Also have you dumped and decrypted the HDD yet? Even if you don't see any data on the XMB there may still be data on the HDD that you can recover.

it is true, these models run cooler than all others, but still 60°C peak is too much for my taste and I am a freak if it goes about temperatures. with these heatsinks, my cechl got about 45°C max

the hdd contains some crysis builds and a homefront2 ps3 build, but still haven't messed with it. maybe someone can shime in to make these working again? but this is not my priority atm

So now You can play of Gears of War 3 (yes, that's not a mistake). ;)

Could You check if HDD encryption is the same as for the rest "fat NORs"?
I know, and I already have dl it, but no testings so far. I am still busy right now, to make all my tools support (4.21) decr and it is more work than I have thought at first

The DECR-1400A already has the best heatsink, replacing it will only make the thermals worse.
Also if it has data then you should dump it as soon as possible, I can guide you through the process since it's fairly easy.

I have already copied all 'strange' data from disc, but still have to make a backup. my question now, if I remove the disc to use another spare one, would this also affect the data on the disc? I mean, would this already render some files unusable?

about the temps, those high default ps3 temps are too much and I cannot stand it, so this is the reason why I have made this ugly barebone pc case mod in first place. my old (now broken) cechl was smashed down, because I had it vertically standing and this has made some serious damage so it yloded. you could see some malformation of the heatsink fins. so I wanted it to ly down horizontally and ended up with this case mod

The best thing to do is dump the drive using HDDRAWCOPY tool, then extract the EID root key using rebug toolbox. That way you can check for data that has been deleted too. The guys over on obscuregamers are able to check for that sort of stuff.

Removing the HDD shouldn't damage any of the data on it, no. If you plug it into a windows PC and it asks to format or initialize it DONT DO IT, that will wipe the entire HDD (it can't read the PS3s filesystem and assumes it's a new HDD).

ok then, thanks for clearing this up about replacing harddisk. now I will remove the disk and start up real messing with my tool, cause I think I have updated all necessary tools by now
