Never opened before

this is my first time opening it

Anyone knows what caused the rust?

(The heatsink seem to be oxidised anyone knows why?)

So after 10+ years of heavy usage 24/7 me and my brothers use it daily for everything (gaming/youtube/Netflix etc)

This was the first time I opened it up

Thermal paste Never changed started overheating and fan died (made a loud screech noise) after 8 years and giving the red light

We fixed the issue by flipping it on it's back and putting an ice bag worked for couple of months

Then we deicided to store it in the shelf since we were lazy to take it to a shop

Deicided to open it myself and clean it up put it all back together and it no longer turns on guess it's dead (the consle was heavily abused so I guess the real lifetime of a ps4 fat is 9-10 years?

The Ice bag could've been the culprit of the rusting/oxidation.
OG ps4s have a reputation of overheating simply because people don't know where to properly place their console where it wont be struggling to breathe and coughing dust from lack of cleaning.
The lifetime of a console depends heavily on how much and where it is used and how well it is taken care of.

Agreed, ice bag is the direct cause of high humidity and water causing corrosion as well as additional dust collection I'm sure. water + electronics = dead.
