PS2 My TV doesn't support 240p signal through component, is there anything I can do?

Hello, I recently purchased a PS2 so I could have it in my collection/to play games from time to time. Everything is working, PS2 games are loading through OPL just fine.

But, when I try to load PS1 games with POPSTARTER, the PS1 logo comes on bla bla and after that there is no video, just sound. I was reading through a thread where somebody mentioned that there is a 240p signal through component which I'm guessing is the problem here.
I tried changing the video mode in OPL so that it would maybe help but nothing happened. Somebody said to include a CHEATS.TXT with $HDTVFIX or something similar to that. Is there any fix that maybe would work?

Video modes in OPL's settings are for OPL's GUI.
Embedded GSM only works with PS2 games not with PS1 games or any other app.

Put CHEATS.TXT in POPS folder, e.g. X:\POPS\CHEATS.TXT.

In CHEATS.TXT write:

$HDTVFIX

It will force 480i for NTSC games and 576i for PAL games.

For 480p (60 Hz) enter $480p.
Although PAL games might have problems (e.g. AV out of sync) with this mode.

I tried this on my system under the hard drive partition "_____POPS" and couldn't seem to get it to work. Frustrating that I can only play ps1 over composite. Anything I might be overlooking?

I think that this partition should be __.POPS not _____POPS.

Anyway if you have e.g. Crash Bandicoot.

__.POPS/Crash Bandicoot.VCD
__.POPS/Crash Bandicoot/SLOT0.VMC
__.POPS/Crash Bandicoot/SLOT1.VMC

Put CHEATS.TXT into __.POPS/Crash Bandicoot folder.

__.POPS/Crash Bandicoot/CHEATS.TXT

Make sure it is CHEATS.TXT not CHEATS.txt (case sensitive).

Running GSM also helps. Grab the settings at GSM.rar (and use them with the old 0.23 one made by dlanor) or grab my mod and use it.

Or, for simple and faster solutions, grab my mod (GSX.rar) and paste both files (GSX.CNF and GSX.ELF) at the BOOT folder in the MC. Run the ELF file before launching the games. After applying the patches, it will launch mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
You can setup wLE_kHn as mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF and launch the games from there.

Using that old GSM (or my mod) will cause no AV sync problems!
