Need a little hardware diagnostic help

That does not mean much really. For example there are a ton of tiny pins on those ribbon cables going to the board, but you only need a few of those connected properly to get it accepting discs and spinning, ejecting.

When I say you just need any working logic board attached to install FW I am not speculating, this is well known and well tested.
 
No ejecting. Spinning, I could hear the head moving and it takes discs in. Mine was getting worse as time went on. When I started my board was, in theory, working but my drive was trashed. Didn't allow me to update.


My machine is a special case. It has been flooded out and still works, mostly. I could simply have a conductive piece of trash across a pair of pins on one of the chips on the board which is making it unhappy. I know my cable connector is suspect too. I have a lot of little variables.

I plan to pull my board soon and ask a buddy of he can logic level diagnose it. It's what he does every day, its a lost art. Maybe I can get my drive back.
