PS3HEN Need help with PKG game

I recently installed two PKG games on my PS3 that has HEN. At first, it worked properly (it worked properly for almost a week). Today, when I opened the game, I got a black screen. I turned the PS3 off and on again and the game was there. I tried opening it up again, and I got a screen saying "An error occurred on the open operation". I have no idea what happened and I don't know what I could have possibly done wrong. Can anyone please help me fix this?

try "rebuild database" under safe mode.
 
What will rebuild database do? Won't it delete everything I have installed?

Nevermind, found some info online (it will clean up my storage). But how can that fix the problem?
 
if the error was 80010017, it could be a corrupted game. that error means the eboot can't be decrypted. it's the error we used to get trying to play higher games on 3.55.
 
I have PS3 HEN 4.87. I am trying to boot LittleBigPlanet 2. The only thing I still don't understand is why it was working properly yesterday but not today.
 
you can also try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. or update it if any are available. either would help if a file got messed up. maybe the black screen was random glitch but it messed up a file when hard drive suddenly shut down.
 
Ok, I will try that. Thank you all for all the help. I will let you guys know if it works.
And, by the way, the other PKG game I had also broke after that black screen (even though I did not get any black screens while booting it).
 
I had something like this happen with dkc returns on the wii u. the game got corrupted before my very eyes. I was playing it, then after beating a level, the music kept running but I could push no buttons. after that, black screen whenever I tried to run it. I have four complete backups of my virtual wii's hdd, so I just copied over the folder with the game and it was fixed. I'm playing it right now in fact. :D

Yeah. The thing is: my game didn't even boot. When I clicked on the game, it simply gave me that black screen. And it was not even a "black screen". I just wouldn't get any images from the PS3. I thought it was a problem with my TV, but apparently it is not.
 
Hey. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Same error. As soon as I click it, my TV gets no video from the PS3. The PS3 is still on, my controller is still connected but my television has no image. Should I try to rebuild database? I have no idea what happened.

Did you enable HEN before load the game?

I think it is fine. Everything was working well, even after I installed HEN. I think this all happened after my brother downloaded and installed a pkg. He thought he downloaded the game, but he actually downloaded the game update. He tried to launch the "game" and got the black screen. That never happened before.

I don't know what a RIF is. I have the original RAP files that I downloaded with the pkg. I only get the black screen when I enable HEN. If I try to launch the game without enabling it before, I just get the error.

you should have a rif if you downloaded it from psn. that's how you get the rap to begin with.
 
I don't really condone piracy unless it's a rip off with the dlc. I just bought legends of cold steel 4 for the switch (comes out in two days) from the eshop on the pc. it's being preloaded on my system at this very moment (need to download it to my other two systems). anyway, the reason I mention that is that there are 52 items in dlc ranging from a buck to three dollars I believe. a serious rip off, way too much dlc, just like the tales of games I mentioned in the psn purchasing thread. I purchased part 3 like last year, and I noticed that I have some dlc, but there's like 52 of them again. I want it, but it's too much money and too time-consuming to keep buying them one-at-a-time.
