Need to play Battlefront 2 on PS3

OK, I have a bone stock PS3 250gb I bought in 2009. Nothing has been done to it as I do not know how to do anything other than put a game or blu-ray in it to play. All I want is to be able to play Star Wars Battlefront 2 on it. I've looked up some sites on how to do it but they assume I know what I'm doing.
Some questions: Jailbreaking is brought up. Do I need to do this? How? Is it safe? I've heard about being banned and /or losing data.
It seems like a lot of back and forth- PC to PS3. Is this necessary?
I need the easiest, most dumbed down way to just get Battlefront 2 to work on my PS3.

Well hopefully you are not trying to pirate the game or you will not seek help here, first thing is knowing which firmware your system is on. If on 3.55 or lower you can install straight to a CFW with no hardware needed. Now if you are above 3.55. Your console will need to be downgraded. This can be done by yourself or there are some services also.
 
No pirating, I've owned the PS2 Battlefront 2 disc for six or seven years now. I just want to be able to play it on the PS3 because my PS2 is crapping out and I've run out of ports on my tv so I must switch them when I want to play it. Laziness, I know.
My PS3 is on version 4.60, might be 4.70, either way not 3.55. I consider myself pretty handy and able to follow direction so if I downgrade to 3.55 which CFW should I use? Would I be able to just put the disc in and play like a normal PS3 game?

The PS2 version does not work on non-backwards compatible systems even with CFW. All PS2 games aren't compatible unless you have one of the first phat models. The CECHA-01 through CECHE-01 can if you have CFW. You might be able to play the PSP version which is a little handicapped not having the right analog stick but can be done using PEXPloit since your on 4.60 but you have to take all the data off the HDD to your PC inject the game then add it all back. You will need a way to hook the HDD up like an external caddy and your IDPS which can be gotten over WiFi using IDPStealer.
